Terrible. Can’t believe some people enjoyed that horse shhhh of an episode.

 

I fookin loved it. It's funny to me how easy it is for "fans" of the show to shit all over it. It's a TV show. Don't watch it with some kind of expectation. Just watch it. Or dont.

 

So we can’t be upset about an episode that was super hyped and comes out failing to deliver on multiple plot lines?

What do they have to do to make you happy?

 

Not have the worst possible closure to a storyline that started in the pilot episode.

Having what was also the most laughable attack and defense strategy I’ve seen in what equated to a movie was also bad. I’ve watched it a few times now, and the action is good, but everything leading up to it was just .. bad. And it’s writing, it’s hard for me to conceive that a storyline revolving around warring kingdoms that commonly use military tactics and trickery would settle for the greatest battle scene abandoning all that knowledge.

 

I'll talk to HBO and see if they can redo it for YOU. Screw everyone else who was entertained.

 

I'm not trying to flame, so don't take it as such. In your opinion, as a fan of the show who's watched all the episodes, what would you have liked to have seen happen? I can see both sides of the "this sucks" and "it was good" in a way. But when I try to think of what I would have liked to have seen, I can't put my finger on it.

Since you're so outspoken as to not liking the way it was written, how would you have liked to have seen it end for the Night King?

Again, I'm not trying to be hateful or trying to flame, just curious.

They didn’t explore the lore at all. Not one bit. The entire series has built up to him bringing this vast army south with very little in the way of showing him on screen, his history, or motives.

We get CotF creating him to fight men. No reason why he betrayed the CotF. No hint at why he wants to destroy all of men / men’s history.

It’s all just very underwhelming that this major plot device gets written off as fan service for those wanting a major battle. He didn’t fight (hell, none of the white walkers did), he stares at Bran (who at least isn’t in the courtyard anymore), and then poof. 7.5 season major character gone and we barely knew ye.

 

I get it. I was the same way with TWD. I can't stand the show now because of all it's flaws and refuse to watch it. I was able to gloss over them in the beginning but not anymore. I only watch GOT for the entertainment and nothing more otherwise I'll find myself in the same situation of always complaining about everything I don't like. I have more poignant issues than TV episodes.

 

Only because you’re a “fan” of something doesn’t mean you need to blindly love it. Why can’t we be critical? I’ve been watching from the start, and to wait for 10 years through all the build up and have them toss the entire premise of the show out the window is thoroughly disappointing.

Not surprised you and other “fans” loved it. Most of the ones that share that opinion are those that are new to the show and just jumped on the hype wagon. They are also ignorant to all the deeper (and not so deep) narratives the show built up based on the books.

The writers are obviously overwhelmed by the story GRRM left in their hands. They don’t know how to wrap up the story without the manuscript. They are not original content creators but rather adaptation writers.

 

Me too. Doesn’t mean I can’t take issues with the final season of one I’ve watched since it first came on the air.

100% agree with TWD. It’s a mess that other bad shows can only aspire to.

 

I bet we find out more in the spin off. I honestly don't understand why the show is ending so abruptly.

 

GMMR is ending the books at the same conclusion.

 

Well at least GOT has made it to the series finale. Can you imagine if it had canceled before?

Yeah, that's kinda the opinion of all my other friends and coworkers as well. I personally kind of took the episode at face value for what it was. I didn't have too many expectations of the "Night King Fight" per say. But if I said I wasn't underwhelmed I would be lying a little. I just pictured a little more than that.

Granted Arya is showcased in that she is a well-trained assassin. And in so is quiet, fast, deadly. But I do feel like that could have been used to make a little more dramatic 3-4 minute fight scene that could have included Jon/Arya working together, etc.

I definitely agree with that last statement about the writers room. But, the bandwagon stuff is just wrong, I've watched this show from the beginning and almost nothing about it resembles the GRRM text. But, I still find it enjoyable.

 

But, it'll take a completely different path to reach that conclusion.

 

Wait, is it canceled finally?

I don’t have any issue with Arya killing him, or how she did. I thought that was great. I just wish they’d done more than show them sitting around on horses or walking into the castle before the all looked like blue popsicles on the ground.
