Look at that, 2 people came to an amicable agreement on TW after resolving differences.

Really appreciate the suggestions, that's exactly what we're trying to do with this initial research. You'd be surprised how often manufacturers release new products without researching/testing the market first. I'm relaying all this info over to our production team and hoping we can bring a lot of those requests from TW members to life.

We've introduced a Flow Forged wheel series for other vehicles that are lighter and stronger than OEM and have seen good results so far. The initial plan wasn't to offer these as Flow Forged but after reading feedback I'm hoping I can convince the team to at least make them in the future, if not for the initial launch.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Alright guys I got some renderings from the production team. Thought I'd share them with you to get some initial feedback. I'm pushing to have these made in a Flow Forged construction to reduce weight to about ~19lbs-20lbs but we need to hammer out some production hurdles before we can begin offering them in Flow Forged. In the meantime, here are the specs for the initial batch:

Size: 17x8 (16x8 likely coming soon)
    Offset: 0 and -12
    PCD: 6x139.7
    HUB: 106.10
    Max Load: 1800 lbs
    Weight: 24 lbs

Edit: Initial batch will only have 0 offset. -12 might be introduced based off demand.

We crossed the Rubicon along time ago. There's TW members that put TRD and PRO badges on trucks that are neither.

Heres my problem with this, SHOW ME 1 person that uses knock off wheels in TW and had one break or fail during normal use? The argument this reviewers and “experts” make can only go so far when what they claim almost never happens. And when it does, it’s normally the driver beating the living shit out of it. That doesn’t just go for wheels, that goes for most aftermarket parts that Tacoma’s use.

Hard to say for certain as of now but rough ballpark figures would be $700-$800 for the set based on previous reps we offer.

There’s something to be said about market demand for replicas of attractive wheels. Not all OE wheels are automatically copied.

A good example is the current 16” PRO wheel: there aren’t many replicas of that wheel. My guess is partly because it is not a particularly attractive wheel. The 17” SEMA wheel, on the other hand, is quite attractive and is widely available as replicas in a variety of specs, colors and finishes.

You didn’t watch the video. The exact opposite argument is made by John. Please take the time to watch the vid to the end before commenting. It is a “pro knock-off” piece,

They might be better if they were built in China.

The Chinese will build anything to whatever spec you chose, from lowest to highest. Some extremely high quality items come out of China, built for domestic companies that require a high spec. iPhones for one.

The days of “built in China” necessarily implying a poorly made item are fading fast. There are a lot of domestic companies that want cheap shitty products to sell, and the Chinese are happy to make those too. However, with North American and European companies sending a large part of their basic manufacturing to China, we are also giving the Chinese a huge opportunity to learn better processes and techniques, while we in the West all fall behind in our skills. Now for certain items, the Chinese are the premium choice, if not the only choice to get the job done right.

It’s just part of a cycle. Asia once dominated the world of technology and innovation and culture. Likely those days are returning, perhaps quicker than makes most western people comfortable. I’m ok with it. A little competition for scarcer and scarcer resources might wake up the generation of dullards we’ve produced in the west to strive for more than a nice hoppy craft brew and some discount vape juice. It can’t go on as it is forever.

Very true. Not to mention 16" isn't as popular as 17" amongst Tacoma owners.
