Cooking dinner now. Spent $100+ stocking up on groceries, last night, but I shouldn't have to buy too much more for the month that I'm in corporate housing. I found out that if all the kitchen lights are on and my laptop plugged in that turning on the TV will pop the breaker in short order.

It looks nice at least. The laundry room light, kitchen lights, living room light/fan and outlets, and hall lights are all on one breaker.

    Cool, an gotcha.

Kinda like my house. I think all three upstairs bedrooms are on the same circuit. It’s unreal how many shortcuts are taken when building houses.

I like the RTT idea because, among other things, I like the safety of being up in the air and being away from Critters; both animal and human. But invariably it will mean extra drag when driving and the mileage I get on the Taco sucks as it is. (about 14mpg overall). Mounting it on a trailer seems feasible since I'll only be dragging the trailer around when I need it. But them I'm looking at about $7500 and up for a trailer. Climbing up and down the ladder is a non-issue for me because I'm still fairly limber and I'm not the sort to get shit-faced drunk. Although getting my dog up into the tent could be a challenge.

I've also seen a lot of DIY videos on building a teardrop which could translate into a cost savings.

I told my wife that when I retire in about four years or so, I'm taking off on a solo trip driving around the country. I promise to come back, but I don't know how long I'll be gone. I'd like to do a blog and a YouTube channel to document my adventures.

That's what they always says, but if I can climb up to it, a raccoon, possum, bear or cat can too. They might not use the ladder but it's a short climb from the hood of the truck. It may feel mentally safer but Ihave my doubts
I get 12 towing, granted my teardrop is big and heavy for a tear (5×10 and 3500lbs loaded)

On a trailer is the way I'd do it. We basecamp that way we can drive the truck to explore an area for a week or so

That all depends on how fancy you want to get. We've got about 25,000 in ours, but everything is stainless, aluminum, oak and granite. ..

We're taking off for a year next year. Tour the country with our teardrop, hike, kayak, trail ride, everywhere and as remotely as we can

If the dog (or you) can handle sleeping to alone, there's no reason to put it in the tent with you. You could just get an annex and let it sleep under you.

But there is still the Critter Factor. I'd rather keep him out of harm's way. If a bear shows up in the middle of the night the annex won't be of much help.

As @Wild Crow pointed out, most critters you'd be worried about can climb, so you're not going to be any safer if they're determined to get at you. However, with that said, the dog would probably be losing its shit (barking) and scary most things off.

I wouldn't mind finding an old military trailer and repurposing it for off road camping. Something like this.

I build custom homes for a living along side my step dad and brother. Our company has been going strong for about 30years now and this is the exact reason we tell people it’s better to wait and build a custom home with real electricians, plumbers, etc. instead of a getting a Ryan homes or Clayton homes or basically any big name company. All their stuff is done in house and NEVER to code. Most of them have inspectors paid off so they don’t even really come look at half the things they build. Remember guys quantity not quality. It’s what keeps the big corps going

Rite. We are the 3-4th owners. No telling who built it. That said, from what I understand.. two owners before us had finished off the up stairs.
