I just learned the hard way that the 4 Runner TPMS are not compatible with the 2017 Tacoma wheels and cannot be reset for the Tacoma.

For all those complaining about the unsprung weight of these wheels with stock tire sizes, It will not impact performance that much. Unsprung weight mostly affects lightweight cars below 2,500lbs during high speed turns with bumps. I don't think on a vehicle this heavy it will make a difference in handling if you add weight below 10lbs. About mid thread someone reported that these wheels weighed 29lbs on the scale. If this only adds 5-7lbs I really see no impact.

If we were racing in a Baja race with a tube frame chassis, with a fiberglass body then yeah, sure it would lessen traction over bumpy terrain. For the normal person riding 70 on the highways I don't see it changing the charectaristics that much. I would be more concerned with the increased scrub angle of the wider stance than the increased weight at the hub. The wider stance will put more work on the suspension, but I don't see anyone complaining about the wider stance and getting alignments.

I do have a 2,300 pound car and it originally had 22lbs wheels on it. During high speed corners the wheels would shutter and not stick to the road. By moving to a 12lbs wheel the shutter went away and I was able to increase my corner speeds on track. On this truck you'll make more of a difference with tire pressures then adding or subtracting 5lbs.

This is all just my opinion and the feeling I get when I drive , so take it with a grain of salt. I've hopped on the band wagon and have a set of these wheels. I'm not building a race truck and just wanted a look that was OEM at a glance.

To me they kind of remind me of older Hilux chassis Toyota trucks. You folks have some awesome looking trucks. I like the all black truck with the silver/black trail wheels.

PT280-35170-02 l, they need to be modified to fit the 4Runner wheels. The tabs are to small, I added epoxy to the tabs all around to make them bigger and now fits like a glove.

I think I am going to clone the Tacoma TPMS so I can switch wheels for winter driving.

What is the difference between the ones with the black trim and the ones with the gray, more subtle trim?

14-16 trail edition wheels are all one color (silverish) 17 to current they changed the name of the trim to TRD off road and painted the inside spokes black.

Here’s a quick shot of my freshly powder coated trail wheels. I’m still debating if I should make the center cap & lug nuts black, or keep the silver for contrast.
