Hey! Dropping in to post about my 5th Tacoma, a 2018 TRD Off Road in Blazing Blue Pearl. It's fully loaded, but has no mods, so I'll have to post new photos once I change wheels, adds steps, etc. Huge shoutout to JMONZ444 and BEAR_KNIFE_FIGHT for being available when I needed them, and their helpful advice that ultimately lead to this purchase rather than walking away. It was sad to let go of my 2013 TRD TX Pro, but it was time.

Looking forward to seeing you guys at the next Wisconsin gathering!

AJ, I'd have called you for advice, but I don't think I have your number. I'll get in touch with you about mods, though!

Damn I saw 2 Tx’s this month (April) but I was looking for your plate. One was in Rockford illinois and the other In Greenbay! The BBP is a awesome color but 20 minutes after washing it has a layer of dust ! Hopefully a brewery tour this month!

I decided last minute to go for a ride this afternoon. My weekend is booked, so I decided to make the most of my Friday.

I hooked up with the T.W.A.T at HWY 54 and headed north. I eventually began to regret the decision to go solo, as there are some sketchy roads in that section. Similar to what @ajmogen had described last weekend, but not as bad. At least I finally got to use 4wd!

I have only seen one porcupine in my life that wasn't roadkill. Today I saw 2. Maybe I should have taken it as a sign and turned around:eek:

I eventually came to a road that was closed, and decided that was enough stupidity for one day. I definitely enjoyed myself much more when I had company!

I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the trail. Hopefully with someone who can save me if I get stuck:D

So you didn't go find out why the road was closed, I would of had too, but that's just me.

Based on how mushy, slippery, and rutted out the ones I had already been down were, I figured it was best not to press my luck.

Believe me, I was curious! I can't imagine how bad it must have been. I might have gone exploring if I had another truck along

I hear you, but me with my adventures over the years have a tendency to push the envelope even tho it could be bad.

I just wonder how the roads are made up there that they get so shitty. It almost seems like they just dumped sand on the mud and called it a day. There were a few spots where I started to lose momentum and had to goose it a little to keep moving.

Pretty much, if and when they do add fill for low spots they use whats called pit run which is whatever comes out of the hill they are digging into, not real stable for the most part, but real bad in the spring when the frost comes out of the ground.

I guess that explains why some of the sand and gravel roads are so crummy this time of year

I thought as long as you had a National Forest sticker you could camp anywhere in the forest? I have camped in some really out of the way places in Nicolet that where not campsites before we camped there:rolleyes: Been awhile since we've been up there camping though.

I don't think dispersed camping is affected. But, a lot of smaller campgrounds have been closed. I like those ones because they're usually quiet.

So pumped! 3 weeks (Friday 5/24) till I hit the trail and wanted to do the south end on the T.W.A.T. The Mississippi River looked like it’s still way over flood stage. (Checking for fishing spots) probably near the dam. Not sure if it’s closed near Wyalusing State Park. I’ll be riding solo with the dog so a little nervous getting stuck. Several weeks to go but another 5 days of rain coming this week. Oh well. Been wanting to hit this and now seeing all the pictures I’m getting

Don't worry about the south section, it's all very well maintained roads through Grant County

Not sure how far north I’ll go. Figure I’ll leave Milwaukee at 5Am and head out that day
