I'm running a Motorola HSN4038A 8 Ohm 7.5 Watt Remote Mount External Radio Loud Speaker paired with my Yaesu 400 xdr. I picked one up new from eBay and I'm very happy with its performance. I have it sitting in the rear cup cubby that is just behind the center console storage compartment.

It wouldn't be difficult to build a device to switch between two aux inputs. If the two way radio has a COR or a TOR output pin, that can draw a relay open or closed to switch audio.

Good news. GD-77 is working again.
Bad news. I think I've forgotten everything I learned about setting it up.

That MLS100 I think you are talking about is plenty loud for a noisy truck, speaking from experience.

Ordered an FT8900 to replace my 7900 this morning. AND I got 2 friends into HAM. Currently studying for the tech test. I'm actually passing off my 7900 to one of them.

Edit: Damn. That thing shipped in an hour!

Alright. Got it tuned to a local repeater and the antenna on the truck. Just need a vent mount for the radio.. Any ideas?

I'm still running this antenna on my V71a. I took the magnet Orr and screwed the base into a mount that goes behind the third brake light. Works very well.

Well, ordered the radio, antenaa, mag mount and
That's a good idea for a mounting point, I think I am just going to leave the speaker loose for a little bit and try it in different spots around my truck.

Also, finally ordered the radio from HRO, only to find out it's backordered for 4-6weeks. I knew it was backordered, just hoping it wasn't for that long. Ah well, still stoked to finally be able to use my license that I got a few years ago for something besides my drones.

Very cool. Lifelong hobby...few weeks to get the proper rig only makes it sweet! Good luck, some pics in my build thread “electronics” links below. Also I pic’d the whole install in the “clean installs” thread pages 53-55.

    Post it up when done!

Yeah, drones. That's barely scratching the surface of my current collection. I have a bunch of micros as well. A few of them run EZUHF and 1.2g for video. As well as some running 900mhz crossfire, and most the micros run 2.4ghz control with 5.8ghz video.

I need to get on the long range crossfire wagon. Obviously a fine Line with the Line of sight deal, but with binoculars and a mountain...

Haha. I'm actually getting ready to downsize to a 3" as well.

Deff beinifits being a ham and know what to use for waves.

Yeah, ham knowledge helps a ton. Guys at the field wonder what I am doing setting up a 1.2g ground station at the flying field, but then are blown away at the fact that I have perfect video feed through a bunch of trees and stuff at 3/4's of a mile away.

I have a gd-77 and I hate it. My cs750 blows it away. I'm planning to buy a Tait tp3350. They're quite a premium over other options, but they're super solid.

I just built a DMR repeater this morning with an MMDVM board, two CDM1250 mobiles, an RPi, and PiStar. Now I need to use the scraps from my bed platform to build a small cabinet for the repeater to make it portable. Right now it's laying on my bench, lol.

We need a TacomaWorld talkgroup on Brandmeister!

Is there any FPV gear that can use the 5 MHz set aside in 70cm for ATV?
