Taking the grille on and off, cleaning, sanding and painting, were all easier than masking this grille off twice. Lol
But hey it all turned out nice.
    Cheers

Very damn nice! If my truck had a grille from the factory that looked like that, I'd of never swapped it out.

I think chrome should only be on the Limited, painted matched on the Sport, and blacked out on the Off Road. Ya call me a old school thinker lol.
    Thanks guys

    That looks good!

I agree: chrome doesn’t belong on anything with Sport or Off-Road sticker on it.

For those who might ask. I bought the SR black surround and painted it to match truck. Figured at least one piece of the grille will have a non chrome finish for the paint to take well. Then sanded the whole grille with 360 scotch pad. Make sure to get in every knook and cranny, sand enough to dull the chrome. From there etched primer in every direction 4 coats. Then masked for the braces to be painted satin black, from there I masked the braces off, and colour match all elevated parts of the grille match new SR painted surround. Tips if I had any, no need to sand the chrome right off, just dull it, but get in everywhere, the other is masking is a pain, but it's crucial to do a neat job if you're doing a multi colour grille like mine. And finally when spraying a metallic paint, spray it in one direction only or you will see waves of metallic in your work. Oh and spray about 3 to 4 inches away works best for me anyways. I'm no expert but I hope this helps anyone out. Cheers

It looks really nice and didn't cost a lot to do. I wish more people would think outside the box with mods like that.

Looks like you ended up with a good color match. Was this done with rattle can paint? If so, what brand, where did you find it?

A local auto paint shop here in town. Top Shops. Told them what I wanted to do and they said this is a good product. Didnt know they made custom colors in a rattle can on the spot! Matching the silver sky was tricky, but close enough to the untrained eye lol.

I was so tempted to just paint it all in that satin black, it went on so nice and looked great, but stuck to the plan and did the silver next.
