Anyone know what brand the OEM bug guard is called for a 2001-2004 Tacoma? Trying to buy one for my truck and want to make sure I get the right one.

    Links r appreciated

    Thanks!

It is called a Bug Guard just as you stated. Now if you mean what name brands are there for a 2001-2004 Tacoma that's a different question.

Toyota calls it a hood protector, part number PT427-35040. Its the OEM that has "TOYOTA" on the side of it. But, please call your local dealer to verify that the part number I gave you is correct. My info may be outdated so they may have changed it or it may no longer be in stock.

Edit: I forgot to add that the part number I gave you is for the 01-04 Tacoma's.

mine is called a hood protector on one box sticker and hood deflector on another
thanks to @1997tacomav6 for locating one when all my local dealers said they NO longer exist, yet they were in a warehouse 200 miles from me in KC, wth
now to find some darned new floormats for the clutch-wear-syndrome mine have
perhaps that link will unearth some!

I had one of these. But noticed it would protect hood edge fine.
But also sent the rocks into the windshield. So I removed it.
    It's a late 90s accessory.

My OEM version became brittle and the side cracked off. I purchased a replacement from TrailFX (same manufacturer as my window visors). Fitment was OEM quality, still kicking after 4-5 years.

I have the weathertech version and it looks good and fits nicely. There is one out there that is huge. The weathertech looks similar to your picture.

Mine came from the dealer with a factory Toyota deflector and sliding rear window in my DC. Think it's still in the closet.

Same here. After 15 years OEM plastic turned to glass. Got AVS, much more flexible. Still no cracks after 7 years.

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
I’ve had AVS on all my trucks and vans since about 1987 and currently on my 03 Tacoma. I’ve never had one break. But I don’t do drive through car washes. I’ve wondered if the ones on my Tacos direct the rocks to the windshield. I seem to get rock chips on cross country trips with these trucks. Not my others.
