    Hey guys,

I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on a set of 265/75R16 ATs.

After lots of research I narrowed my list down to these three tires —in no particular order: Falken Wildpeak A/T3-W, General Grabber AT-X and BF Goodrich KO2.

BF Goodrich KO2 requires little introduction. It is the perennial top-selling LT tire and with good reason: they are comfortable, quiet, competent on-road and off-road, and excellent in winter weather. I had KO2s on my Jeeps and was very happy. This tire is a shoe-in, although they remain the priciest.

General Grabber AT-X just pushed KO2 off the top as the most highly owner-recommended AT tire on TireRack.com. I’d like to hear from those who have this tire on their Tacoma how they like it. The price of this tire sits right in-between KO2 and Wildpeak.

Falken Wildpeak A/T3-W is the new kid on the block. Falkens remain obscure in the US, but those who have Falkens swear by them. I hadn’t heard of Falken until I got a set of Azenis for my Dodge Challenger SRT 392 and was impressed: the Falkens overperformed tires twice their price. Jeep picked Wildpeak A/T3-W as the OE on its new Gladiator Rubicon pickup truck. This tire still doesn’t have many reviews, so I’m curious to hear from any Tacoma owners who have them how you like them. Falkens have the lowest price of these three.

    Please don't forget to vote!

    Thanks in advance.

    Falken AT3W.

I have it on my Tacoma and 4R. The 4R is 2wd and has done some crazy stuff I'd say would be even challenging for most 4wd. Those tires grip like crazy and ride nice and plush on the street.

I love my AT3w's, I wouldn't ever go back to KO2's. No experience with AT-X's.

I have a set of BFG KO2 on the truck now, but if I had to do it again I would go with another set of Yokohama Geolander AT/S like I had on my second gen, and stick with a standard load range this time. IMO, the BFG ride poorly, and I have had balancing issues since day one. 41lbs VS 53lbs a piece.

I like the Falkens a lot, but ehhhh I am starting to reconsider because mine look like they will be toasted at 25k

Since Standard Load (SL) came up: do you guys think a SL tire is fine on a Tacoma?

Yes, it is, unless you are frequently driving over primarily sharp rocks.

Had E Rated 33" KO2s. Might as well have had wooden tires. Felt every pebble on the road.

Now have SL/P rated AT3W. Softer ride, even aired down is fine. Nubs on the sidewalls aren't just for looks it helps strengthen sidewall against rock punctures. A guy that works for Falken confirmed this on here somewhere. Good compromise but if you offroad often and haul heavy stuff all the time then go with a higher rated tire IMO.

The Tacoma is a mid size truck so I think SL/P is perfectly fine. And if you don't off-road every weekend or haul stuff than anything higher than SL/P is overkill.

    Dang.
I’m about 20k in and I still have like half tread left. At least.
On my previous truck I’d be lucky to get 35-40k before my ko2s would need replacing.

I have SL stock size Wildpeaks and love them. Tread depth is great for an SL rated tire. Ride nice on the road and they look great. Haven't tested them off road much but they were great in the snow.

    Toyo Open Country II’s.

But if I had to pick from the above, Wildpeaks.

I run SL AT3w's, been great so far and wearing well at 15k miles.

If you bought from discount tire you'll get around 50% of what you paid your next set or other tires. 55,000 mile warranty was another major selling point for me.

    Damn.
    That’s some Intense wear.
I think I might have a similar story if I didn't purchase a full size spare to throw in rotation every other oil change.

So much love for Wildpeaks and such little love for the General Grabbers...!

I had a set of 35" Grabber Red Letter MTs on my 2013 Rubicon: each tire mounted on the wheel weighed 110 lbs and rode like they were fossilized. But these Grabbers are now supposed to be the ultimate AT. No Tacoma owners to vouch?
