I agree, but I think they also say that lift on 3rd Gens should be limited to 2" inches for the TRD Offroads because they come from the factory with 1" already. But like I said, if the CVs aren't damaged from wear or debris you can rebuild them with new boots and reinstall. It's not difficult to do. This is your chance learn more about your Tacoma. Get the tools and parts you need and find out how to do the work.

I couldn't do it. If I get home and see a torn boot...I'll be up all night thinking about it and especially the clicking. But I can be old like that

It would be impossible to size the bearings. They are not roller bearings.

They break, not seize. if it did break problem would be the shaft clanking around and could cause damage if it does break. like others have said if it’s not clicking it’s definitely safe to drive just no 4wd and take it easy

Just curious, how long did you have the 3" lift for?

No need to replace the Axles. Remove, disassemble, degrease, clean, reassemble with a fresh boot kit. Your issue is the CV angle. You have too much lift in the front and/or not enough lift in the back. Lower the front a bit and throw in a diff drop, easy fix.

Your shafts are fine, but fix the underlying issue.

Yeah for sure. I didn’t think about lifting the rear more. I do have a full OME leaf pack. Can I add a leaf to my existing leaf pack?

I apologize for all the questions. I’m a noob when it comes to lifting.

    19d? Scout?

How is the stance of your truck? Does it look level or is the front high? Post a side picture.

Sure you can add a leaf into your pack, I did that with my AllPro 3" pack. Probably easier to just drop the front a bit and throw in a diff drop. Diff drop's are cheap and easy to throw in.

    Used to be, 19Z now.

In all honesty lowering the front is a way better idea than lifting the rear. The amount of problems going from 2.5" to 3" just isn't worth it.

Wrong. Those "fucking things" don't seize and even if the bearings did, how is that going to stop the shafts from freely spinning in 2wd. Ive broken CVs and even with a broken inner tulip joint the thing still spins in 2wd like normal.

Yeah the front is a lil higher than front. Ill probably bring my kings down to 10 threads? Currently at 15.

Like I mentioned before, I heard more bad then good when it comes to diff drops on our trucks. That’s why I never did it. But maybe if I had it done I wouldn’t have torn CV boots?

Diff drops don't really drop the diff at all, they just tilt it forward a bit. They really don't do anything if you ask me, I put one on my truck and it didn't make any difference in boot angles.
