I smell the past tense in this... I'm curious to what you traded it in towards?

The radio freeze thing actually happens on a lot of years. Had it happen once on my 2013, but just that one time. Also seen it happen on a 2018, but also just the one time.

@LivinLoud are you carrying a set of tires over from this truck? If so what size?

I change cars often, but the wife needed a new Rav4 for impending baby.

I now have Xterra and still lurk the page and help when I can.

We still see problems on 17's but much fewer complaints than the 16's. The owners used to show up with TSB's printed from here haha.

Shifting, radio connectivity, road noise, shifting, rattles, rear spring squeak, and shifting.

    Edit: forgot shifting.

I have bitched about the transmission on numerous occasions. But all and all, these really are great trucks. Mine is an 18 off-road. 8k miles.

It's really up to you and personal preference. But I've got 265/75r16 on mine, and I've never had an issue clearing most stuff. I've gotten through stuff in under a minute where some guys have been stuck for 5+ on 285s. At a 2" lift the suspension rides great and that tire size still fills it out well. Gearing is still all set too. Just food for thought.

I like that idea bud. throw up a pic or PM me one. Im not too familiar with the look and stance with different lifts on these rigs. Ive never had a problem with my 265's either, was just going to go up for ascetics and for no other reason. I do NOT plan on offroading the new truck except to get to a fishing hole or two. dirt roads, unmaintained roads, and a little bit of mud will be the only thing itll see

I love my 2017. I had a 2007 regular cab 2.7 5spd 2wd, so I have some familiarity with the 2nd gen trucks. It’s a new V6 and transmission, the interior is much nicer, and the front end looks different but it’s more or less the same truck underneath. If you liked your 2nd gen compared to the other midsizers, you’ll like the 3rd gen.

If you read through this Forum most complaints will be about automatic transmission shifting, people not liking the power, and seat comfort, all of those things will reveal itself on a thorough test drive.

I dont mind the transmission at all, its different but not in a bad way. I dont mind the power, its there when you need it. as far as the seat comfort goes, I like the TRD seats, not so much the sr5 seats. Thats the primary reason for looking at a sport. If those are the big complaints, then Im in good shape.

Can do. That's 90% of what I use mine for. But I find that the remote places that I go fishing at normally end up having tougher trails than some group rides. Haha. We do tons of fishing. 2 of my favorite spots I can't get to for a other month because the base of the mountain is all mud and then the trail up it is a river during the spring haha.

BTW are you looking at the autos or manuals?

auto only. I have no interest in driving a manual, not because I cant, but because I dont want to:rofl: and my wife needs to be able to drive it as well

so is the golden rule here to just "not buy a 2016" or...... is it a truck by truck basis with issues
