What side of this construction sign should you be driving on?

A bit of usefull trivia. If you approach this sign in a construction zone, which side of the construction sign should you be driving on??

 

The side without the big hole

 

No shit sherlock. But that is not an answer option. But I'll take that as you have no idea which side.

 

If there is a crew working in the street and that is the only traffic device they have in use they should lose there permit.

 

FYI could be a regional thing or a national standard not everyone follows. Never seen one around here. Normally it's just cones

Exactly. It's something that's never taught or even mentioned in a driving test. Most people don't know that the slant o the lines makes a difference.

 

Fwiw I bet most TC guys don't either haha

 

How about this sign?

 

For the most part it was just cones to be honest. Both the round and Pointed. Occasionally we'd have cones with ring bars on them with additional signage, or signage that dropped into the cones themselves.

 

The side that has an open lane.

I feel like I shouldn’t have to be determining which way stripes slant to know which side to be on. I think we have developed arrows, and text that says keep right or left. I’ve never seen a construction setup that didn’t make it abundantly clear.

If you look at the time stamp of the original post you might develop some thoughts, like...we are all suffering from this man’s insomnia.

 

The side the lines point toward the ground, in this case it is the left. Because the lines are higher on the right than they are on the left. Used to be on the the State of Florida Drivers License written test and 25yrs as Engineer Inspector.

 

That depends on your location. Even then I’m a night owl so it wouldn’t be insomnia... maybe boredom.

 

If I remember correctly it was on my original Georgia written test, way back a long time ago.

 

The only time I see that type barricade used here in my area is to mark a pothole or some small hazard. They are usually right over the top of the hazard. Otherwise, they try to set up an idiot proof lane funnels to divert traffic.
I'd be surprised if many of the workers are even aware of your fact that they have a proper usage method.
