    Today is a special day. We brought our first born child home from the hospital and mom and baby both are doing great.

    After getting a good nap in, I decided to crack open my first Hefeweizen I brewed awhile back. It’s been bottled for 15 days so I figured it was safe to at least try one. The color is a bit dark (expected from an extract brew), but it tastes like a Hefeweizen! I believe it might need a bit more time in the bottle for carbing, but overall I am extremely pleased with my first home brew.

    Wholeheartedly agree - didn’t like it when they introduced it. Then again, IPA never was their forte. They started on a German classic brews with a local bent. The brewmaster (Heinrich) moved to his own label for Oktoberfest brews and became Covington Brewhouse (I sent out a few autumn brews) and brews Zea’s Restaurant beers (local).

    Yep, Bayou Teche is one of my favorite breweries... I actually have a “sampler” waiting for me from a friend. Was going to maybe put up as another contest.

    On that note, Parish Brewing has Envie out as a DDH variation for those who have access.

    I went to their brewery last year and they sold out of these cans in 45 minutes with nothing else in cans selling that day. If they're distributing in NY now then maybe they have increased production as well. Hope it was good!
