When you lift the tacoma the front bearing in the clamshell diff uses "needles" and they are prone to break. They create a lot of wobbles and humming, and have been known to eat a few diffs along the way. ECGS offers a stronger bearing that does not use needles.

Thanks for that reply, is this something I should be looked at replacing as a just in case thing or wait for a noise and it to go out?

    Two schools of thought.

“Maybe i will be lucky” or “its mostly apart, might as well do it now because its a risk”

Most people are if youre going over 2” its a 100% requirement.

If you are lifting the truck, I would recommend just doing it. The stock one can go bad with even a moderate lift. Half of the work is already done if you do it while you are taking apart the truck for the lift.

when you order, using code "TW" for free shipping. They sell an install tool, and a removal tool. You can buy them used and save some cash. I'll be selling mine in the next month.

Thanks, unfortunately the lift is in so I will have to take it apart again. Luckily I have a 2 post lift in my shop so it wont be a biggie and when I do it I want to add my helper spring in the rear again since my trailer is heavy and I left it out to see when I did my Headstrong lift.

Also I would probably be interested in the tool when you go to sell it since I will need one it appears, Im gonna check with my dad since he was a front end man for 20+ years and see if we have another way to get it out

If you've got a welder, drill press, metal saw and a tap - you could make one in about ten minutes. It's a really basic concept.

not sure if you ever got it done or not but a1 tire off 441 in Ocala would be the way to go.
