    Wait a minute. One of us is confused. By "aussie lockers" I thought you meant ARB because they're made in Australia. ARB are not cheap or easy to install. They certainly can be installed by yourself but you need special tools and knowledge (or at least have done a lot more research).

    The lockers that are cheap and easy to install are "lunchbox" lockers. Lock Right and Powertrax are examples of this. Unlike the ARB that is a true lock, lunchboxes only lock under torque. That's not a bad thing though. The only time you need it locked is under torque. There is not much gained from a true lock. In fact, an argument could be made against a true lock because you need to disengage it to be able to steer worth a damn whereas the lunchbox will allow the outer tire to turn faster when turning.

    I think your Runner would be nicely suited with a lunchbox like the Powertrax. You'll get tremendous traction increase without dropping too much coin. Powertrax costs about $100 more than the Lock Right but I'd get it because it supposedly has much better on road manners. If the Runner is the vehicle you're going to be taking friends and family up the icy roads to go snowboarding in, predictable behavior by your rear axle is priceless. Lunchboxes are not technically as strong as something like an ARB or a Detroit but they aren't going to be the "weak link" on your truck either.

    haha i know the difference greg but i think im gettin an "aussie locker"

    ----> http://www.aussielocker.com/item.php/TMf0a6a0/8534/20/120002/.html

    but i really dont care how it drives on the road all that much because i have the taco for that, but like you said the only concern that i have is driving in snowy/icy weather with the aussie locker, thats where id want the powertrax no-slip but i guess well see they are kinda expensive almost 200 more than the aussie but idk its gonna be a few before i got somethin so well see haha

    I was pretty sure you knew the difference because I remember we discussed traction options for your taco in the past.

    I was the one confused. I always thought the term aussie locker was a slang reference to the australian made ARB's. I win the dumb ass of the day award, woo hoo!

    That looks like a competitor to the Lock Right. It's the same thing, price, etc. The Powertrax is about $150 more but if I planned to drive it on winter roads, I'd save up the extra money. Honestly though, I don't know. I haven't driven them both so I can only repeat what I've heard and read.

    haha i know what you mean i thought the samething too with the ARB, but ya its a competitor its just cheaper and from what i have read it seems like people like it more.

    but like i said i dont really care how it is on/off road and it doesnt really snow here ever, but that doesnt mean i wont go snowboarding or something this winter. but from what i read it just seems like people like all three so idk

    Which axle does the 4runner have? I just looked at rocky-road.com Some of the Lockrights are the same $270 price but others are up around $300.

    If people like them both then obviously go for the one that you can get cheaper. They look identical to me. I guess the decision between one of those and the more expensive powertrax comes down to what you'll be using it for. Off road only, totally get the less expensive aussie or lockright. If you plan to hit the slopes a few times a year, you may consider saving up the extra $150 for powertrax.

    Are you going to try to get up here again before school ramps up too much? I assume you'd just do the Glade? Which ABQ guys are you dragging with you?

    I'm saving up to get an ARB locker for my front axle. It will take me forever but oh well, it'll eventually come. I wish I could get a lunch box up there but they just aren't recommended for front axles. In fact, I don't even think they make them for fronts.

    ya i know what you mean, i dont go snowboarding all the time but i like to when i can, and i dont wana kill myself tryin to drive on a snowy/ice road where ill possibly need 4wd haha but i feel kinda retarted cuz i really dont understand how the no slip works? but i have an 8" 30 splin rear and aussie locker makes em for the front, all though i dont really see a problem for off roadin since it locks under torque, so for normal 2wd it would act as an open diff correct? or m i wrong?

    but man id love to get back up there agin before school starts but idk if ill have the time and cash even though its just gas and food haha

    should be easy man just a few bolts, just take a look under the truck i mean you can pretty much stand under there haha.
