    ^I think it just depends on what you use it for.

    I've got a super fun built for offroad truck that sees dirt like twice a year lol. 315/75/16s on 4.56 with a 6 speed feels so much slower than what 295/75/16s on stock gears felt like. Granted I went from a semi lighter all terrain to ST MAXX's, but jesus, the thing is a pig at this point lol. TBH I didn't see much of a difference in offroad performance in tire size from 34s to 35s...never had issue on my other truck with 33s. I imagine if I was doing some super crazy rock crawling 35s would probably be beneficial, but that's not really what I built my truck for. So I dunno.

    I’ll definitely look into this more. From what I saw, the 4.10/33 combo takes you back to equal to stack configuration.

    I forget the exact number, but I believe stock would be like 4.33 for 33’s so you’d be under gearing at the 4.10’s. I went higher for better off road performance.

    But like @VolcomTacoma said, it depends how much dirt and what kind of dirt you see. I hit dirt frequently and since most of my buddies have jeeps it has a good mix of high speed and crawling. Crawling definitely benefits more from the higher gearing ratio.

    Hmm my 285/75/16 st maxx supposedly weigh 64lbs and 315/75/16 st maxx supposedly weighs only 69lbs. So
    How much difference can 5lbs really make

    Ah-hah, but like I said, I went from an All terrain to ST Maxx. St Maxx is just an all around heavy tire. Toyo AT2s in 285/75/16 are only 58lbs, so 11 lb difference per tire. That's still alot of rotational mass. Even 5lbs, you'd notice a difference. That's 20lbs of extra mass total the truck has to rotate. Might not sound like much, but it is. Plus gearing and all that. Just saying, people cut weight on their vehicles for a reason.

    On that note, I'm convinced the Speed Limiter on our trucks is regulated by the Speedometer. On stock size tires, WHILE I WAS ON A CLOSED COURSE, It would govern out at 110 every time. When I bumped up in tire size and got an Ultragauge, I've seen 120ish on my UG and had it govern out right when it hit 110 on the speedo. ON A CLOSED COURSE.

    After further investigation, the tire size is used in transmission function, not speedometer calibration like we initially thought. The speed limiter functions as you might expect.

    Im going down to 33s my next tire set too. I dont need 315/75/16s for hauling a dirtbike or driving around town. 1 trip a year isnt justifying it anymore. Guarantee itll eat more rocks but thats why its skid plated and i have a winch to drag it over if i have to.

    So what I remember seeing is the 4.10/33 combo will get you back to near stock for city driving but wouldn’t be the best choice for off-roading. While the 4.56/33 combo would be over geared for city driving but right on for off-roading.

    Depending on what happens with my axle/diff next week, if its a stupid fix that dude can do for cheap, I already have to replace the rear diff I'm sure, might just have him swap front and rear with 4.10s, putt around town for a bit and pick up some 33s, make a little cash back with the 35s and call it a day. Also tempted to go with 17" rims and 285/75/17 for a slightly larger tire over 285/75/16. Prob not, but who knows. 4.10s with 16s will put me a little lower in the power band, but I've got a manual so I can just shift to where I want the power band. And honestly, with 35s and 4.56 the extra gearing is probably the same as 33s and 4.1 because of the extra force the engine has to use to overcome bigger/heavier tires.
    Like I said above, I'm 100% ok with having a little less power offroad. on trails where Im using 4LO it doesn't really matter anyways, and on the sand I'm pinning it in low gears alot anyways lol.



    Watch, I finally spend all this money, get my driveline all fixed finally, just in time to hit pismo and blow my engine up. LS SWAP

    I dunno... Lots of 1gr stuff has been floating around in this thread. Pistons, rods, some valve springs... Stock crank doesn't seem to be the weak link. More boost.
