In my 1st gen taco manual transmission here are some pictures. If you need tips on how to install please let me know. I also installed Jbl gx862 6x8s they sound crystal but note stock speakers have a lot more bass then the gx862 I won’t be able to Check back till end of May I ll be on a ship till the end of May
If you need help wiring go to you tube there’s these 2 guys that own a small stereo shop in California Called 5 star stereo shows step by step with backup cams and pioneer wiring. They know their stuff hoping this will help other people doing a install in a 1st gen.

other mods I made were I change the orange dash lights to bright white and changed the heater lights over to green leds. I added a Pyle PLCM28MS backup cam from pyleaudio.com license plate cam it was cheap around 30 bucks totally better than I expected. it has bright led night vison and parking assist.

I ran the cam wires in plastic tubing (loom) down the drivers side frame using a T-Tap I attached to green wire on drivers tail light ran up to the purple wire (reverse wire on radio. you can grab power from radio using 18 gauge wire. under drivers seat under carpet on floor there is a rubber gromet thats perfect to pop the video wire up through its where the reverse wire goes to transmission. take plastic running door plate off on floor and tuck video wire under plate re screw 4 screws down route it up to the radio behind kick plate and up under neath dash to radio.

about 10 inches away from top of video screen when I'm in 1st,3rd or 5th gear. the video screen on the AVH-2400 also tilts angles out after you turn it on.nice kinda of James Bondish actually rfc (really fuckin cool) lol one of the reasons I bought.

Nice job on the 6x8s. I've got the MVH2400 NEX Pioneer.

Hey Chris, based on Steve's write-up it sounds like he may be deployed until the end of May.
He and I basically have the same receiver except the AVH model plays CDs, DVDs, etc., and the MVH that I have is a multi media receiver.
Will the lights change to the stock orange color? Yes, nearly any color you can imagine.
Hows it for connecting to android? Sorry, I don't have an Android, but the Iphone 7 that I have connects with no issues.
what's the boot up time like? Boot up time is pretty quick. I'd say 5secs. I really like the Sony XAV-AX100, but there were several complaints about the load / boot up time so I passed.

I was all ready to buy the sony also but read a bunch of bad reviews. I really liked the ability to have multiple cameras. Problem is everything has a bunch of bad reviews and fake good reviews so I'm at a loss of what to get. Always been a fan of pioneer. But I need something that works well with Android.
    Thanks for your insight!

Did you get the MVH-2400NEX ? How do you like it? was there or any other models you would have considered that would fit in the 1st gen or is this the best one right now

    Hey Brandon,
I did purchased/installed the MVH-2400NEX. I do like it, BUT I wish I would have purchased a Pioneer receiver with "APP Plus". App Plus allows you to stream YouTube, etc. through your receiver.
I purchased the MVH model because I don't play CD's or have a need to play a DVD.
You may already be aware of this, but you can download a free program called "Viddly" on to your computer which allows you to capture YouTube videos / change the format / resolution, to a jump drive. I then insert the jump drive into the receiver.

I just wish Alpine made a double din receiver that look like the Alpines we had back in the late 80's!!! I loved the big green buttons!! I know, I know, people will say you can change the color on the receiver now, but it's not the same :(
How many of you out there had the poster of the Red Lamborghini with the Alpine logo on it growing up??!!

Good video on which Pioneer receivers come with APP Plus. Video is from 2017 but still gives you an idea of how the feature works.

Mike make note that the handle doesn't come with that particular set up. you got to fab your oem one for it or maybe they have that housing for sale as well. Then when someone jacks your tailgate they take your reverse cam too hahaah jk… but for real
