Hello TWorld! What was your first upgrade to your Tacoma? Looking back, would you start where you did or go with something else first? I'm a brand new member & 1st time Taco owner. My 2016 TRD off road looks nice in my driveway, but I'm itching to take it off highway and am looking for suggestions on MOD #1. All thoughts welcome!

Don't mod anything until you've spent some time with the truck and figured out exactly what you want/need out of it.

Welcome to TW! Drive it for awhile and really think about what mods YOU want. Read up on here and be prepared to spend some dough. Tons of good info on here. I've had my truck for a year and a half and only just recently started the real mods. Only did tint, tonneau cover, rain guards, and floor mats in the first few months

    Welcome to TW!

I'd still do suspension and tires first, then I'd do armor (sliders, skids, and front bumper). But that's only if you really want to offroad the truck. I always like to mod things from the ground up, and function before form.

I forgot to mention that I bought my truck used and it came with aftermarket wheels and BFG ko2 tires. Wheels and tires (at least tires) would definitely be the first thing i'd do. I got lucky and already really liked the wheel/tire setup that the previous owner had

thanks for all the feedback. I bought it certified preowned with BFG KO2s on TRD wheels with side steps. I like the height, power, and ride but am concerned about those steps on the trail. My first thought was switching them out for solid sliders. I would like to keep it close to factory until it's paid for--my wallet's only so deep.

Welcome to TW. First week - two weeks owning my 19 I did tint, lights, lift & tires and tonneau cover. Still so much more to go.

    Have fun with it.

Boogie3478. Was that your first mod? The 2016 has the composite inner bed, so I'll skip this for now.

The 2nd Gens had the composite bed as well. The bed mat is a non-slip surface that is useful for keeping stuff from shifting around back there ... including yourself because the composite bed is like ice when wet. :D
