Thanks, everyone, for sharing your approaches.

I wonder if I could fish a cord through and have it come out of the little button blank on the left bottom corner of my infotainment.

This does look cleaner than other pictures I’ve seen, especially with the elbow bend on the lightening plug (or whatever it’s called)

Okay, long-term followup: I went with the Hondo garage clips and the grey version of the 90* angle 4’ usb cord that cconzelmann suggested. It blends in and works well.

Now I just need a durable sticker to cover up or replace the obnoxiously large Ram Mounts logo. (Should have shelled out for Hondo Garage’s originally.)

I'm going to do this same thing. Been picturing clips like this but didnt know if they existed or where to find them. This will work well with my etsy mount (which I absolutely love btw).

The cable dangling in the way has been driving me crazy.

Cool. I’m really happy with my setup. Now that I think of it, it’s odd there isn’t some sort of universal hardpoint mount standard on cars these days. We all used to get cigarette lighters standard even though, what, 40% or less of the population smoked. Surely more than half of all drivers have smartphones.

You can route it under the plastic bezel on the death without cutting or drilling.

Is there a USB plug on the back of the stock head unit?

I use the right cup holder, so no go on using the cigarette lighter to usb plug. The USB connection already mounted in the dash would work, but not sure about routing cables just yet - haven't gotten that far. But, if there is a USB plug on the back of the head unit that supplies power, I have a very simple option. Otherwise, it looks like I will have to figure out where to run my cables. It's pretty straight forward, but I'd like to avoid drilling or cutting if possible. Probably not possible for what I want. I have the phone mounted in the vent area but am waiting on a magnetic mount to test so I can close that vent. Good suggestions and I am the type to look at Google images and run with some ideas, so I'll keep it pretty simple. But head unit plug in's here would be best.

I don’t know the power specs, but you can use this breakout harness to get USB power directly from the rearview mirror.

hell naw. That thing is shady AF and uses cheap capacitors. Reports of people using dashcams with it and blowing fuses in their truck is all the proof I need. If anything should blow, it should be the capacitors in that cheap harness. Hard pass.

I am going to end up keeping it simple and probably just using a simple magnetic mount then running a cable from the top through the dash and splicing into the cig lighter to avoid using either of those inputs which will take up space above my cup holder and also require running cables out front. This video does a good job of explaining the process, but I am not using one of these mounts.

This is just day one of planning for me. I like the couple mounts I have found, but not sure if I like the attachments that go on them. They all stick out a lot. I am simple. All I need is a Scosche magnetic mount. So more than likely I will just try a 90 degree or right angle USB to USB c and run that behind the dash to the magnetic mount. As long as it doesn't stick out too far where I will hit my drink trying to get it out of the cup holder, I'm cool with it. I keep my YETI cup (water) there and I plugged in the cig lighter to usb last night, so thats how I found out that just wouldn't work. I like the mounts I have seen, the one in the video I shared and a simpler one, but maybe not for me.
