Broke one rear parking sensor, any ideas?

    I have a stock bumper from 2016 OR sitting in the shop for sale too. Pulled it off to install our plate bumper.

    I ordered a couple of them 20 dollar sensors from Amazon, I have trim tools and I assume the bumper caps have to come off to replace sensors.

    Because when it was broken I had a system warning on the instrument panel. As soon as I replaced it everything went back to normal. I constantly park Comando (in reverse) and have not experienced any issues with its accuracy. If it were not working I doubt the other three would be able to compensate and give accurate readings/warnings.

    I guess if the replaced sensor is a corner one the you could place an orange cone or other obstacle on the outer corner and test it. Harder to do with the two inner sensors.

    I did not but if I ever have to replace another one I will take the bumper caps off. Hopefully this would allow me to install the sensor clip without breaking it.

    People just have no idea how flimsy those clips are. They are incredibly thin and fragile. If you try to attach the clip to the sensor and don't align everything correctly the clips literally desintegrate.

    The sensors can be replaced without removing any parts from the bumper. Just pop the sensor out from behind the bumper. The retainer can be pried off the face of the bumper easily. Reverse the process to install sensor. I’ve done this twice.

    I busted one of these today installing a RCI rear plate bumper on my truck. Flimsy pos crumbled while pulling it out of the original bumper. The RCI bunker has cut-outs for the backup sensors so I just ordered one of the cheap sensors off Amazon part A299.

    Anybody know if this requires calibration like the BSM system or do I just slap the new sensor on and good to go?

    Seriously though, buy the $21 sensor and return it if it doesn’t fit. Just make sure you know the return policy before getting it.

    Yeah, I just plugged it in to the harness and the system started working again. I will say It does feel even flimsier than the OEM one so we'll see how long it last.

    won't those work on an aftermarket bumper?
    I thought that the only issue was the BSM sensors that mount at the corner of the stock bumper.
