I got stuck trying to imitate my 4WD peers

 

It’s been raining on and off all day, I’ve been working in between. I was hoping for heavy rain all day because I didn’t get much sleep last night. My mom woke me up in the middle of the night, she was packing to go back to Alaska thinking it was already Saturday. She is getting dementia, it’s sad af. I’m at home now taking care of her. At least she has a sense of humor about it all, it used to make her angry.

 

Can relate, Paul. My second last visit with my Dad was the best one. I like he didn't/couldn't wanna remember the very last one. Kinda like dinner, it waits for no one so get it while you can.

Sorry to hear that Paul. Cherish as much as you can now Bro. It will not get any better as time goes on.

I am dealing with my Mom in a nursing home. She's 75. Her long term memory is good, it's the short term that is gone. Of course there are just some things she just cannot grasp at all. She had a massive stroke 12 years ago. We make the best of our time together but she is just intelligent enough to know she hates it there. So the time we do spend together is often tainted with bad experiences. It really sux when you have to change your Moms diaper but you're her son so you will do anything for her for to make her happy and comfortable.

Can't say I blame the Man, Rob. Losing your first child on account of War. Bein' in a Siberian internment prison. Not knowin' if my Mom was alive or dead & not seein' her for 17 years. Judging by the nightmares I used to hear him havin' when I was a kid, there was lots I suppose he wanted to forget.

 

Now we're talkin' Turkey.

 

Went through it with my Nonnie. Starting to see it in my Dad now. It sucks ass.

 

But on a bright note, here is my Doot.

 

I hear ya Brother! We just keep on keepin' on.

 

The first 3 or 4 weeks after I was diagnosed, I was a 1st class asshole (now I'm back to 2nd class) I was angry because this just wasn't my plan for retirement. I took it out on those closest to me. Fortunately, they understood and gave me a pass. Getting old and losing control of life is maddening.

 

This is exactly what she’s feeling. She has earned several passes in her life, quite a few left.
