im in the market for a rear steel bumper and love the works of

    Mobtown Offroad
    RelentlessFab
    RPMFAB

The lead times however for these things are insane. In 16 weeks I could have designed and built one myself.

Does anyone have a standard rear bumper for sale?

Is there any company that has a reasonable 3-4 week lead time?

With overland expo coming up I am really hoping these companies bring one or 2 they want to sell.

    Help me understand the madness

Gotta keep up the illusion that they are so busy they cant keep up.

But really I have no clue why lead times are so long for something like that. Seems a bumper company should have bumpers on hand to sell. Even if they offer custom options, they should be able to make a "base" that custom options can be built from to bring times down.

They take a lot of work and time to build. There is a demand for them. We have limited resources. That’s basically the reason.

Well made, handcrafted products take a long time. We aren’t a powerhouse production facility stamping out generic products.

Thanks for checking out our stuff though. I’m glad you like it.

I waited 9 months on a ladder from Gobi.

Have to figure that manufacturers make them as they are ordered. I’m sure they don’t want a shit ton of bumpers sitting around they spent time and money on in the hopes someone is going to buy one.

If you want something now, buy and ARB

I really like the idea of costal off-road. The bumper does not look the best but if all there doing is putting together a kit that comes off a laser and or cnc plasma then I thinks that’s the ticket

I wonder if any other companies would consider This option

The lead times are so long because there are a thousand guys like you wanting a bumper and the companies that build these custom bumpers are usually only run by a few individuals. If they tried to pump them out faster, quality control would go down and I'm sure people would start to have issues with bumpers and start demanding refunds.

RCI is usually fast, they have in house powder coating as well. I got my rear bumper in 2 weeks local pick up though. I waited 4 months for CBI before canceling.

All above reasons are valid. We all been through that long wait period, but it's always worth the wait IMO. I suggest you call everyone and ask for an honest timeline.

    Update.

I went with an all pro. I know and before everyone starts....

I talked to them at the overland expo and with the show deal they were offering and them being there to answer all my questions. They looked me in the eye and answered every tiny little question I had.

Oh and I’m getting it Tuesday. It’s in route.

Talking to other companies at expo I got bull shit answers on super high lead times. Honesty no one would give me a straight answer. Looking them right in the eye they couldn’t explain the steps of why a rear bumper would take anymore then 2-3 weeks.

One company in particular I didn’t talk to but knew they were a local company here in az with a pretty big shop was at expo and just yesterday said they were closing up shop.

I won’t name the company but they completely blew me off even when I offered to pay almost double for a bumper if they could get it to me in 4 weeks. I didn’t talk to them at expo simply because they were not going to get my business after completely blowing me off on messenger while still posting about how great there products were on Facebook.

Sorry for the rant. Back to all pro,

All pro has them in stock raw and powder coated.

They also just developed a dual swingout that they had at the show. Very nice option.

On a side note. Victory 4x4 I also talked with and they said 2-3 weeks. It was close but I honestly liked all pros design better.

A couple of other companies I talked with said they didn’t make bumpers yet but they would have one done if I could leave my truck with them. Obviously I couldn’t but they did say it would only be 6 weeks for a ground up design....

Hopefully my experience helps someone for the future.

@SOS CONCEPTS always has the shortest lead times I see. He just got me this HC rear bumper right at targeted 6 weeks lead time. And I believe I only waited 4 weeks for my sliders from him and also for my skid trio from him as well. Check SOS out
