I'm reading it as they turn it off, then set truck to remember setting so by default truck remembers it as off whenever you turn truck on. After that point they "suggest" not to use the PCS or DRCC but you can turn it on via the cluster yourself, but will default back to off when truck is turned off. The sticker is there as a CYA so they can say, "we told you it might not work on your truck, or may not work as intended, you used it at your own risk."

They're just making it so their system can't be blamed for a malfunction and cause of accident. That's how I read it.

Is that reversible though without having any electronic tools? In other words, is it a setting you can just reach in the menu or not.

Am I the only one that wishes I could just turn all of this off?.. No space age vehicles!

Pretty sure you can deactivate it (someone else will chime in) but you can't change the "default" to on/off without the tools. So if you wanted it on, you'd have to have the tools to reverse it, or you'd have to turn it on every time you started truck.

When I read that “affidavit” and then that other forum members got the recall performed on their modified Tacomas without issue, makes me wonder if this is really Toyota requiring it, or some dealers trying to cover their asses.

Question is... do i have the right to decline it, but still have them do the 20k service?

I don’t know. But you still have the right to drive to another Toyota dealership and try your luck there.

I’ll bet if you told your service manager you will be taking your business elsewhere, they will soften their tune.

I really hope nobody totals my 2017.

And I had a clean 2002, but I sold it! :annoyed:

LOL you can still disable the systems to all you '17 guys. Which is essentially what they'd be doing anyways. I actually want the safety systems you guys don't have.

Who has a newer truck? ;)

And pretty sure the 17 and 18 prices are the same model to model.

So I can go to another dealership for the 20k service? I always assumed it had to be with the dealership you bought it from.

I doubt it. The free services are paid for by Toyota corporate, not your selling dealer.

That PDF is a hilarious read. Let me sum up - This shit probably won't work and will probably activate when you don't want it to.
