So I think the dealership trying to rip me off on some parts that they're supposed to give me at "cost" as part of the deal. Was curious if anybody maybe work for Toyota and could give me what the actual dealer cost is of the black emblem set and the black Tacoma tailgate decal?

Not a Toyota employee but you can get the Toyota emblem covers with the tailgate decal together on Amazon for $141 from Daytona Toyota in FL.

Not a Toyota employee either, but you can estimate at least a 100% markup at full retail for almost any consumer product sold at the final sales point, thus I would only pay 1/2 of retail to the dealership (and Toyota proper is still making money).

here's the basic layout okay the general manager called me and said that I could get these parts at cost so later on my salesman text me and says okay with the parts are going to be $207 with tax and I was like what are you talkin about and they're like oh well the emblems are 150 and the decal 65. And I was like okay that's not cost that's retail. he's like no no that's what the parts department told us the price would be and I said no that's retail so I went online to another local dealership and took screenshots of their prices showing that 150 was a manufacturer's suggested retail price of the badges and 65 was for the decal. Now mind you those screenshots from the other dealership if you buy online shield a discounted price so it showing 127 for the badges and showing 55 for the decal. so then they come back to me and say oh yeah we're sorry you're right it is 127 and 55 so basically all they did was match the prices of what the other dealership was still selling them at so that is definitely not cost. so honestly I don't know if they're just that stupid or that's smart that they're trying to get over on me. I'm basically trying to figure out what the actual dealer cost is of these parts so I can go to them and be like know this is what you need to charge me end of story.

Just call back and tell them $103.50, or the whole deal is off... if you already took delivery, then lesson learned. Always get those “deals” in writing (actual dollar amounts). If the dealership won’t honor the half retail price offer, then inform them you’ll be going elsewhere for service (that’s where the dealership really makes money).

At this point, why even bother with them? Derp the badges (better yet, just debadge) and buy the letter vinyls from the great folks on TW. You're done for about $35 total.

Normally I would move on but the fact that it pisses me off they're going to give me what I want how I want it and what they told me they would do. They are going to get away with it

I went to @rrentrop for the decal. Legit quality. Hard pass on anything from a dealership.

Yeah I never liked dealing with dealerships. Like the truck that I want to get a cement with at least a technology package on it they didn't have in stock so they found a truck that had the emblems on it that I said on Saturday that I buy well over the weekend I changed my mind and decided I wanted to get the cement one with the premium package as well. and they're all like oh no you have to put this much more down and you already agree to buy the other one and you know it's going to be $100 more a month blah blah blah blah blah. So I bitched and argued with them all day yesterday. Now I'm going to be getting the upgrade version for the same price as the other one would have been.

So, you're fighting to support them by giving them money? That sounds like my kind of logic. I'm just here to defend you from myself. Win by giving them no money. :D

The only way you truly win in the situation with the dealer is if they give you those parts for free.

Lol I know not everything in life goes the way you want it to but in this case with how sketchy dealerships are I don't like them to get away with crap.

That's the thing I'm going to come back at them and demand them for free bc of all the shadiness. If they don't then yeah I'll definitely get them from somewhere else. Tho I guess technically if it's at cost they get no profit from them anyways.
