Does anyone know what type of Cold Air Intakes are legal in Pennsylvania? I have looked at a few and they all said that they were not legal in PA. Thanks!

K&N and AEM both came up as illegal in PA. If I put one on will I fail inspection? Are shops not allowed to put them on at all?

amusing that the TRD one is the only legal CAI that is legal and it appears to be on the more expensive side.

    § 4531. Emission control systems
    (b) Limitation on alteration of system[FONT=Courier New,Courier New][FONT=Courier New,Courier New].--No person shall disable, change or alter the emission control system of a vehicle. Original emission control components or replacements in kind shall be present and functioning on all vehicles. It is unlawful for a subject vehicle that is not in compliance with the preceding requirements to be operated under its own power until a reinspection at an official emission inspection station establishes its full compliance, provided that it shall be lawful for the vehicle to be operated under its own power by the vehicle owner while en route to the official emission inspection station for a reinspection. I don't have emission testing in my area.

...wow...thats messed up. News to me. There are weird laws in PA...Like the fact its illegal to own a hedgehog (long a$$ story, short version is the dude in charge of game and wildlife got in a fight with a PA hedgehog breeder -when it was still legal to buy hedgehogs that were bread in PA- and basically said hedgehogs are now illegal and they went on this witch hunt to kill any hedgehogs they could find...thats where some of our tax dollars go...) Also, its apparently illegal to have more than one set of fog/auxilary lights on the front of your vehical, and if you do have them...they have to be 20 inches apart and covered (if auxilary). That law isnt really enforced in the bondocks, but I'm told people get stoped for it in like Pittsburg and Philli.

    A few bolts are different.
K&N 57 series FIPK intakes are 50 state legal.

Ok but it does not have the 07 Taco listed as a compatible air intake. Am I possibly missing something?

I find that very interesting because the emissions laws are so inconsistent here, probably because it is based on per capita. For instance, there is no emission testing in my county. The county to the left and right of me have it though, which only consists of having the gas cap checked.

back to the "57" series as i stated, which are "CARB exempt, street legal in all 50 US states". Appears the 07 and other Tacoma models do not have a "57" series intake available. The intake available is a 63 series (not CARB exempt). I should have looked at my catalog first.

FYI for anyone still looking at this topic: I just got off the phone with K&N and the 57 series is still pending for CA. All of the 63 series numbers are also pending and, once approved by the state, they will revert to the 57 or 77 series.
