What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Was somewhere on the passenger side up front about 1/3 the way down. Wasn't super obvious. Just one day looked down and my temp gauge was pegged and as soon as I pulled over started steaming everywhere.

Yeah quality was not that great. THe nutserts were like half crimped on too.

Too bad, lots of potential.

50 pounds damn that is heavy

 

Mine rusted completely in two and fell off in big chunks. Rusted worse and faster than the frame!

 

for some odd reason I am thinking Toyota started using different materials from my model year to yours?

 

Yeah I considered making rubber mounts because I've read that vibes and felxing out transfers force to the weak parts of the aluminum. Well will see how long it last. Thanks for letting me know bud.

 

Better than crunching your stock one and losing 3 gal capacity. I’m in the middle of prepping this replacement.

90 here today and my garage door faces west. This is the “dry” season in west central Florida so very few clouds and no afternoon storms to cool things off. Garage gets dog-dangling hot. After 15 minutes I could feel my heartbeat in my eye sockets so.... Put off the tonneau install for another day.

Why is everyone swapping radiators? Is there something wrong with the stock ones that last 300k?

 

Put new shocks on the front of my 2wd Tacoma. It was pretty easy. Just a nut on top and 2 bolts. Now the front isn't all bouncy. The old shocks were straight toast. Rides way better.

Also want to find a name for my truck. Its a basic Tacoma with mustang wheels. For some reason Taco-Stang keeps coming to mind

 

Can a 4cyl crawl box (trailgrear) bolt up to the 3.4 with adapters? I was texting cory and he said it may be possible but with some work. Got a good deal in my face.

 

Don't feel bad, mishimoto aluminum radiators are doing the same.

Nothing wrong with the OEM one except one thing...the plastic tanks. Thats the only part that really goes bad. So an all aluminium one had the potential to be the last radiator Id ever need.

Alas..was not meant to be.
