I have an 02 Regular cab V4 Tacoma. I'm not sure as to what parts I need to replace the entire Tailgate. It was in a wreck before I bought it, therefore did not include the original tailgate upon purchase.

Here is what I have so far:
    -Tailgate Frame
    -The two metal support wires

I'm pretty clueless as to what else I need to have a working tailgate. Please help me out. Thanks.

This is for a second gen but it might help...

    tailgate shell (metal frame)
tailgate inner panel (inner plastic panel)
    tailgate handle
    L/R tailgate latches
L/R latch strikers (rods connecting handle to latches)
tailgate protector (plastic across the top...1st gen's may not have this)
    L/R hinges
    L/R cables

Hey, thanks for the response! I'm having trouble finding the rest of the parts... Does anyone know where I can order them online?

For an aftermarket one, it only comes with the main frame. You'll need the two hinges that attach to the body, the handle to open the tailgate, the left and right latches, the access cover to the handle, and of course all screws, in addition to your support wires. Also, you'll also need to get it painted.

I'm really not sure if you can get the whole tailgate assembly from the dealer. You might be able to.

Junk yards really are your best bet though.

you'd think a junkyard would have a complete tailgate

Trouble with junkyards, is tailgates there are usually .....JUNK!
Although if OP has a decent shell, a junkyard gate (as long as all hardware is there) will work.

The dealer will sell you a complete tailgate, but they have to order all the component parts and will charge you to assemble and paint.

I'd get a new frame, have it painted and get the rest of the components from a junkyard. Basically swap the new frame onto the old tailgate. That way you can be relatively sure you have everything.
