I’ll have fun doing it. Goals are not to get injured. I jacked up my knee a couple weeks ago. I was bending over heard a loud “Pop” and now I hobble up the stairs like an old man. No pain just sitting or standing around, and zero pain when running. So fingers crossed it doesn’t get worse and I can get through trails OK with it.

    My rules:
1g of protein per pound of body weight

0.4g of fat per pound of body weight

The rest of your cals can be any further combo or carbs, fats, or protein . I personally find cutting carbs and upping fats has been best for losing fat and curbing cravings. Although be prepared to lose strength with a carb cut over time. Do not let this bother you.

Lose no more than 2lbs per week. 1lb per week is more ideal because you’ll lose less muscle mass with a lower deficit.

How much fat do you think you have to lose in pounds to reach your goal?

    For real?

I’d probably aim to lose that in two weeks XD

If I don’t have a lot to lose I don’t mind cutting extremely to get it over with. Anything over about 10lbs I do slowly.

Lyle McDonald has a rapid fat loss plan tuned in for dropping weight quickly to minimize mass loss and max out fat loss.
If you don’t have much to lose it might be worth looking into just to do a quick cut for summer.
    Just an idea.

That's perfect. I'll check into that. And I mean 6 pounds of fat, not six total.

After watching the BB show the other day... It motivated me to switch my bulk to a cut... Been about 7 months now and was down to 198, back to 222. I'm pretty tired of being so bloated. Wrote myself a diet for this weekend's meal prep, going to actively start next monday. Goal is 210.

Not dropping as drastic this time. 2800 calories - 70g fats about 215 protein rest is carbs (300ish).

How much progress did you see from the DLs and squats for overall mass? Any cardio staying that lean?

What is this “cutting” you all speak of? Sounds like a load of shit if you ask me...

    :anonymous:

I’m still working in a slight caloric deficit and it sucks. Trying to drop some excess fat without sacrificing too much strength.

Cutting is for individuals whos maturity has grown past defining themselves by the exact number they lift in the gym everyday.

Strength comes back after a cut, its not gone forever. It will all be OK.

One could argue small deficits delay strength gains for longer than if you just sucked it up and cut.

You win at what you focus at. Its hard to focus on two things at one time and then achieve maximum results with both.

    I guess I forgot the /s :notsure:

Some of us have different goals than others...therefore I chose not to cut. Because one focuses on strength doesn't mean that numbers define them. With that logic, one could also argue that what some see in the mirror defines them. It's all small thinking no matter which perspective you're looking at it from.

I'm focused on strength and am winning at that. My only REAL competition is myself and I could care less if somebody is stronger than me (or more cut/defined).

When I said I was at a slight caloric deficit means that I'm eating under maintenance and definitely not in a place that I can go into surplus...but I'm also not trying to cut 1000 calories out of my diet either.

When I started lifting in high school, I went on a never ending dirty bulk that lasted into my second year of college. Eating absolutely everything in sight, day and night. Went from 165 to 220 while still being pretty lean (for a dirty bulk- I was definitely a little chunky when I had my shirt off) but man I was lifting so heavy and was super strong. Could also barely run a half mile.

Cutting was one of the best things I ever did. I cut to 180 and have been maintaining it the past couple years. My lifts are slowly going up (no where near where I was at 220) and I can run for miles. I feel great, look great, and am much healthier eating clean and lifting hard.

Point is I think it's dumb to go to one extreme or the other. Honestly I look like I have the same amount of mass that I did at 220 but I am just super lean now- 6 or 7% bodyfat. Dudes in the gym are bulking/cutting and a lot of them are asking me for advice trying to get a similar physique to mine- and honestly I just want to tell them to stop the bulk/cut shit and just eat good, eat clean, workout really hard, and be healthy. Just my .02 but I know some people make this a really big process

    I totally agree.

My goals are set up for what makes me feel good and what keeps me healthy. Vanity is not the sole reason (which is why I don’t get into sharing noodz lol) and I agree that its not a healthy reason. Goals always need to be personal and not to show off to others.

I feel like some people knock cutting/bulking cycles like recomp is the worlds greatest thing but... very few people are ever successful with recomp and its arguable whether or not its as effective.

You are right, Life is too short to live it for anyone else but you, my intention was not to suggest otherwise.

In everyone else’s defense, you just bulked for 3-4 years and then cut. Which is probably much more effective than bulking and cutting every 6months.

The bulk/cut thing came from bodybuilding shows where your “off-season” focus is to build as much mass as quickly as possible and then cut down for the show. Not as effective in short spurts when you aren’t joocy

True! Get fat once, build up all the muscle your body can naturally build, and then just cut back to a healthy weight and the foundation is there to stay.

I agree. This last time I have found it easier just to not put on shit loads of unwanted fat by exercising a little self control!

I’m not gonna lie. I got down to 183. Could see abs and felt good sitting down.

I maintained it for a while and then life happened and I lost focus. Back up to 194 which sucked. Sure I gained a little strength but personally , I just like the way I look when I’m more slim and defined rather than big.

So I’m back on the mission to get down to 180 again. I workout to burn calories and get toned but really don’t care if I’m benching 225 or 250.

It’s cool being able to lift a lot yes but it’s easier for me to stay focused and on track when I’m cut for some reason.

Lose all unnecessary fat and then slowly gain lean mass is the plan I’m shooting for. Low carb diet for me right now as well for the first time as I’m trying to find out what my body likes and doesn’t like (complete newb to this life still as I’ve been doing it less than a year) and so far it’s actually feeling pretty good.
