Leak resulting from lift?

Yes but I haven't with the new lift and tires

 

Might as well deflate all 4 tires of the bad air and put in good fresh air.

 

There is a chance the lower and upper ball joints are going bad and the end links on the sway bar can be left alone really.

 

gotta change out the winter air for summer air soon

Lol it sounds pretty ridiculous when you word it like that. "your swaybar is leaking". It's probably the little boots on your swaybar links that are leaking. Mine have probably leaked out all of the grease by now but i'm not too worried about it.

Ok, where are you located? Get the truck out of that dealer and we can tell you how to check the lbj and ubj.

Sounds like the work of a new lube tech and a new advisor miscommunication going on here

Also, toyota LBJ’s leak grease almost their whole lives, any toyota tech can tell you that. Unless they are loose in their sockets or dry and squeaky just leave them alone. The end links for the sway bar can be left alone until they get loose in their sockets as well!

What's the big deal? Why is the service writer not allowed to bring up the fact that there are some ball joints leaking grease? If you don't want to do the repair then just decline and move on. Some people would like to know the condition of their suspension or if there was anything that was starting to degrade.

It's also about liability too. If I'm looking at a customer's car and I neglect to mention something that is beginning to fall apart I'm setting myself up to be partially responsible if something gets worse and an accident happens later on down the road. A big company like Toyota has lots of money and they don't like getting sued. Like it or not, they are going to tell you about every single silly little thing that is going on with your car.

Sure, at 40,000 miles the ball joints are probably fine and they're just spitting a little grease but it's still the service writers responsibility to inform the customer. Some people like to maintain the value of their car and they would happily spend money on suspension work to keep things clean, dry, and orderly. As a service writer, who am I to decide that the customer isn't going to be interested in replacing some parts that are in the beginning stages of failure.

Over the years I've gotten tired of being yelled at by angry customers for "missing stuff". If they leave me, go to a different shop and get a laundry list of recommendations then I look like I'm not doing a good job checking out their car. Proper documentation of every car's condition is what covers my ass day in and day out.

If you work on your own car, great. If you take your car to a shop and let somebody else work on it, dont get your panties in a bunch when they (gasp) tell you about potential problems that may get worse in the future. it's part of the business
