You could also go Commencal Meta 29er with rockshox and nx eagle for $2,400

    https://www.commencalusa.com/meta-trail-29-ride-2019-c2x26304801

Or a step up with fox components (fox 36) 150 mm front but the rear is still 130 mm DPS. This one has GX Eagle for $3,300.

    Good options.
That Canyon Neuron 7.0 looks like a good value. I like the YT, but I’m looking to buy now and I really need a solid climber for me area/style. I’ve looked at the Commencal Meta 29, nice looking kit. Honestly though, as soon as I even think about spending close to $3500, it’ll be straight to this:

Mostly was looking for feedback/opinions on the listings I posted.

Thanks for the reply though

That 7.0 is even VT colors. Eat a dick, kind sir. I can't afford to spend bike money with this house purchase imminent, and you dangle this in front of me?

    JK of course

I liked to put riding clipless this way when I worked at a bike shop and people would ask about it. Once you ride clipless and get used to the feeling you can't go back. It is like driving your car without wearing your seatbelt (assuming you wear your seatbelt).

No worries, I just figured I would give you new options in your price range. I kind of am against buying used bikes after some bad experiences I have in the past. At least when buying new, you are the first owner of the bike and have a warranty. The jeffsy is an excellent climber but I know you are looking for now. The Canyon neuron would probably be your best bet if buying new. Modern geometry, 12 speed drive train. You could run XC races on it if you had the legs.

Ugh, I've been thinking about a shorter travel bike for days in Park city or some of the mesa riding down south that is really techy XC. A 160/150 Enduro bike REALLY sucks to pedal in some spots. A 130 Spectral would be perfect.

If you do end up buying used I'd budget another $500 or so to bring it to a shop and have a good, full service done to it. Unless the owner can prove that it was done very recently. May end up saving you money in the long run and you will definitely know that everything is working as it should.

I’m not at all opposed to new. Actually prefer it. Luckily I’ve yet to get burned on a used bike :fingerscrossed:
Several of those I listed are actually localish to me so I could see the bike prior to purchase.

I love clipless on my road bike. I also have them on my mtn bike but have decided to change over to flats. I have been trying to up my skill level and being clipped in I have had issues with running into an obstacle above my level and being unable to get out of the clips fast enough to avoid ending up on my side. I plan on keeping the clipless pedals and swapping back and forth depending on the trail.

I've got a 2017 Fuel EX 9.8 for sale if you are interested in a 130/140 carbon bike. It's got a brand new Eagle NX drivetrain on it, brand new Level brakes, and new WTB ST i25 wheels with Sram hubs (I moved the drivetain of my new Tallboy over), and I'll also include a 130 airspring for the Fox 34. Has 1,000 miles on it and I've serviced the suspension professionally at every interval. Here is a photo of the bike, (but with the drivetrain I moved over to my Santa Cruz.)

Was a great bike for down south and out west, but all my Michigan friends ride XC race bikes and I needed something a little faster to hang. I've recently ridden the Tallboy in NC and it does just fine, but I did kinda miss how confident the Fuel handled anything I threw at it. Rock gardens, drops, techy descents, it just didn't care

    Asking $2,800

Thanks for the invite but that is a bit far for me this weekend. I found a new local trail that I want to ride again. That should give me enough time enjoy a ride and still be able to rebuild the carburetor from the curbing machine I borrowed from my father-in-law.

    What trail you gonna hit?

I've done that before! The roadies look at you real funny when you roll up to the coffee spot on a pimped out Santa Cruz and 2.5WT tires

Wayne's World on the Eastern sides of the Wellsvilles. We rode it last weekend and it was pretty fun, although I think it should be rated a green/blue as opposed to just a green. I normally go to Eagle's Rise above Mantua as a quick ride but they have blocked access while they work on the road around the reservoir.

Oh man, you are "northern Utah". Next time I am up that way, I'll give you a shout and maybe we can get a ride in.
