Disabling TPMS

@mgmdclb Hahahaha it is still on my to-do list as well as about 500 other things.

 

I made a pvc pressurized can that has held air for over a year now. Wasn’t real cheap like you would think because of the cost of the valves but works like a charm and fits behind the rear seat.

 

I was thinking on going this route but I was wanting to leave my stock wheels and tires in tact. May have to be the guinea pig for the wire method on the 3rd Gen.

 

The pvc pipe bomb is the best tbh. just make sure you seal that bitch up real good lol.

I'm going to try it when the batteries in mine wear out. I think TPMS is pretty useless. Mine alerted once on a flat tire that would have been impossible to miss as soon as I started driving.
I always look all around my truck and at all 4 tires when I leave home and often when I come back to the truck at other places. My brother was using it that day and he didn't look or he would have seen the problem.

The other times they have alerted were false alarms or after I'd checked the tires with a gauge and pumped them up.

 

I noticed when my steel wheels were on for the winter, they don’t have the sensors. The light only came on every once in awhile unlike my 2nd Gen it was in all the time.

I went to the mall parking lot near Rausch and a really tall curb broke the valve stem on my imaginary truck (whose photos I've stolen off of Google)

 

The perfect storm

 

I did the blue wire mod, u cut the wire from the tpms module and ground it. It makes the computer think all is well. If u simply disable the light from the cluster, the light won't show but the computer will still see it as a fault.

 

So ground the blue wire from the TPMS module , that’s it ?

 

That's it, light be gone, mine has been done over a year ago, the only thing is it is very tight so small hands are a bonus

 

grounding the blue wire works for earlier Tacomas but newer ones the blue wire need 5 volts to turn off the light. I don't know what year it switched to 5v but my 08 needed 5v not grounded. cut the blue wire a little bit from the plug so you have room to reconnect if the day ever comes you need to reconnect it . I then used one of those scotch squeeze on connectors that creates a short form the blue wire to I think it was the red or pink wire with white stripe and lights out. The instructions are all listed in TW . I would look up the thread as they are not all done the same way
