You can find forks and shocks second hand for good prices. Not too long before we are gonna start having stuff go on clearance again too! The bike looks good to me, so if you replaced those with some better squishy parts, you'd have a real winner. The Norco is prob the best turn key bike though.

Agreed - modern geometrys make a huge difference. Norco has the better suspension and better price. Might need to update the brakes eventually.

These about a $250 difference in pricing that the sellers have said they’ll take, with the Kona being the higher of the two (Kona - $2500 / Norco $2275).

    If that makes any difference.

    NORCO hands down then.

Edit: Carbon, better spec, better price.

I love it when someone puts a hard vote in

Hopefully I’ll get to put my new rack that should be delivering today to use soon. As much as I wanted a 1upUSA, the features and price I could get this rocky mounts were hard to pass on (under $200 shipped :D).

That was a play on words and MTB lingo. I thought it was funny.

I'd love an Ibis Ripmo. One of my friends has one and it rides SWEET!

Ripmo would be the jam. The Ripley plays better with my budget and region.

the dw link suspension systems are notoriously good peddlers. I leave my pivot mach 6 rear shock open all the time(climbing)

They did a good job bringing a lot of information together. I think at this point it’s less of the environmental impact and more of the social/political impact. I think a lot of people realize we do as much, if not less damage to trails since, from what I have noticed, bikers are more likely to maintain trails. The problem is that mountain bikers have a similar image as snowboarders did when snowboarding got big (think Shaun Palmer). I’m definitely a fan of that image to a degree but now it’s all about working with local governments to prove we are willing to put in an effort to bring a positive impact, or at least not a negative impact.

Nice whip! TBH I didn't watch the video that Mr. Bowen posted above but I always just get on a hill or at least a good flat and get some good speed and moderately hit the brakes. Repeat a few times and should be good. When I got my Hope E4's they went from "I seriously paid for this?" To "oh shit that's what I paid for" in about 4-5 reps.

Didn't notice the carbon bit the first time I looked but I agree now X2 for Norco. Also the guy says he's old and buying used shit from old dudes is almost always a safer bet.

Yup. The Norco and the ibis are carbon. The Kona is aluminum.

    Weights are as follows:
    Norco - 27.56lbs
    Ibis - 28.5 lbs
    Kona - 30.4lbs

Kona has the least reported use, but all there are from households of ‘old to middle-aged dudes’ haha.

I’m comparing all the geo for each and planning to seal the deal on one tomorrow. Then pickup early on Saturday. That is assuming I don’t find some other shinny thing that draws my gaze.

Haha yeah if you follow the video you get pretty tired. I didn’t do anything to my brakes at all when I first got my bike and they glazed over and I had to sand the pads and clean the rotors with alcohol and then bed them.
