How did the top of the pin shear off. The only way that could have happened was if your u bolts weren't torqued properly and your entire axle shifted. The top of the pin is a guide for where your axle sits.

Stay away this requires the finesse of a calibrated elbow. Ugga duggas are for wheels, u-bolts, etc.

I've had to replace u-bolts twice in the past 12 months. Trying to avoid doing it again until I do a u-bolt flip.

    Here is the breakdown.

I have been using a c-clamp to push the leafs together and just running the shackle up, then releasing the c-clamp and letting the tension hold the shackle in place until it doesn't anymore.

    20190326_175652.jpg

You can see here where the old pin has been sheared off. I dunno for sure, but I think I did this at on one of my Gulches runs.

    20190327_122135.jpg

I have been half tempted to just JB weld that shit into place until I do the u-bolt flip since I'll have to replace u-bolts then anyway.

The top did not. The pics should show what happened. I think it was metal fatigue and stress flex.

Even if you take the U-bolts loose to replace it they haven't been on that long and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. We re-used Chris' when we swapped my old leafs to his truck and his were older than yours.

This set of u-bolts went on pretty recently. Couple of months ago? I dunno, I still kinda want to stop-gap it until I do the u-bolt flip.

Persimmon is kinda similar but with one washed out bit somewhere halfway. I went thru that on Saturday in a Jeep I rented from turo and it wasn't too bad.

    Ahhh ok. Makes sense
I was thinking it was the main pin that guides into the hole in the spring perch.
