Every time I see pics like this it makes me want to get the fuck out of NOVA and buy some land. If I can't get my transfer to Utah I'm sure as hell transferring to the WV office.

"Ford red run" what does that mean? Climbing rocks with the truck is fun but I hear the road isn't too bad, we like to hike to spots with great views and just relax around camp. We are planning to be there in June for 4 nights and want a good camp spot for the trip

Red run is the creek that drains the swamps on the southern leg of the loop road
The road skirts it for a while and there’s an obvious place where people have been fording it. Good campsite on the other side, just don’t romp your truck in the mud by the site. The creek is real rocky and low sediment so crossing it doesn’t hurt much imo. If it’s high enough that it will hit your hubcaps I’d abort mission because that creek is a rager when it’s full lol. Lots of safer sites

Last time I drove past table rock on the loop road the brush scratched the shit outta my truck lol. Some fun creek crossings on the black water side too :)

Lots to do in the area, what kind of activities/food did you have in mind?

Hi...WV guys, N.E. PA guy here...I need some directions.
I need to get to the Slanesville General Store. I'm coming from N.E. PA.
    I'll be taking Interstate 81.
It looks like I should take exit 317 from 81S to US-11/VA/37.
Then to 522N...then to VA-127 which turns into WV 127...then it looks like VA-127 turns into WV-29...is that right?
The reason is I'm going to deliver a motorcycle from the dealership I work for to a customer and he's meeting me at the general store.
    Thanks!

Thanks for the definition. Learn something new everyday. I normally just say cross the stream or river.

I have heard the streams are bad if it's too deep. I will definitely take it easy as we are rolling solo for the trip. I'm thinking to get on the Loop rd in Blackwater park and drive a few miles before finding a camp.

Pinstripes are hard to not get. Hopefully no super bad limbs to remove paint to the metal but I will have an axe and snips with me anyway just in case.

We like hiking especially to waterfalls or outlooks. The wife wants to rent tubes and go down a river. I love micro brews, fishing and just relaxing. With a 18 week pregnant wife, 4 year old and two 30# dogs some stuff may not work on this trip.

We will be in Canaan for 4 nights. Before that we will be in Glenville for 7 nights and Cap on Bridge for 3 nights.

Is that brewery in Davis? Any good restaurants near by? We may make one day a trip to town while in Canaan

Yes Stumptown Ales is in Davis. Accept no local substitute everything else made in the area is swill. Siriannis Pizza is a must stop and right down the street and Hellbender Burritos is there too. Also there is a bangin food truck that parks outside the brewery sometimes called the Farm Up Truck

Table Rock overlook trail is on the apex of the loop road and there is Lindy Point overlook in Blackwater Falls State Park. Also a big waterfall lol

Lots of places to hike in the area what with the Refuge and State parks and Monongahela National forest. The otter creek area is a special place. Lots of trails on the loop road :) the Allegheny trail system is huge

Contact Blackwater Outdoor Adventures for float stuff, they do all types :)

What do you do? If it’s transferring to Clarksburg like I’m reading, you can definitely live off the grid and be fine for work.

Government Cyber/IT. Unfortunately, fast, low-latency internet is the only thing holding me back.

Depending on where you move, it’s not bad. I’ve had better internet in Morgantown and the Ohio Valley than I’ve had in Monterey, CA or anywhere in Hawaii (Oahu).
