    Ok... question for the group. Need to make sure I'm thinking of all the options here.

    Has anyone bought a truck out of State? What's the best way to do these logistics?

    My son is looking to buy a Taco. He just got stationed in Colorado. (told him not to buy a Taco in CO). He has found one in Arizona (good deal, solid truck, owned by a well known TW member)

    Thinking he and a buddy should fly to Phoenix (location of the truck) on a 4 day weekend and just drive the thing back to CO.

    I bought my 2018 new from Dolan Toyota in Reno. CA is a PITA to deal with, they handed me a big packet of stuff to do, like smog and weigh the vehicle, and title crap for CA. But idk if he’s registering it in CA, but the state DMV will list the requirements online

    My truck came from CO as you can remember the suspension bolts were a pain.

    Beside that it’s not that difficult to transfer it to CA. You’ll need the title of course. Get the truck weight at a weight or gas station. I recommend removing all heavy items like spare tire etc, you can get creative with this one. Bring your weight cert and title to DMV or if you have AAA insurance (best option) since they have their own DMV office. They will help you feel out a one page? form. After that they will inspect it right there on the spot. If everything is good you pay the fees and wait for a new license plate, title, and registration.

    I think you guys are misunderstanding.

    Truck isn't coming to California... It's going to Colorado. Just trying to think of the best logistics to help him get it there.

    AFAIK, California is the only republic that is difficult to import vehicles from free America. Other state to state moves are easy peasy.

    Anyone regear their truck? End of the summer I’m upping to 33’s and considering 5.29’s on my 3rd gen as I’m heavy when loaded for off road. Curious if anyone has a good shop they know of?

    (Btw yes I’m aware I ended that sentence with a preposition)

    I switched to 5.29's last year and super happy with them. With 35's and over drive gears in 3rd gen my RPM at 70 are around 2200-2300 on freeway. Plenty of low end torque as well. You just need to calculate final drive ratio and RPMs with 33's and make sure you are okay with them. There are whole bunch of sites where you can do that. Also, read up on 5.29 mega thread. It will answer most of your questions.
    I would suggest getting the 3rds from ECGS if you are willing to do some wrenching. That's the best bang for your buck. I got mine done from Rearend specialties in Santa Clara. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    With your 35’s, what kind of MPG are you getting?
    I’ve made it through some of the 5.29 mega thread, but do you think 75mph with 33’s and 5.29 would wind up too much?
