UTAH (and Surrounding Areas) BS Thread

Oh, that changes things. I could never make Moab a day trip. Too much fun stuff to do!

 

Free time is super limited, so when it's available I have to just take advantage of it and use it.

 

Negative. The signup begins this Saturday. However, based on what @Gunshot-6A is saying, it may not be worth it. I was thinking it might be cool just to get to know some people.

 

Let us know what time you’re thinking of going up. It’s still a ways out so as we get closer we can coordinate.

 

It is cool for that! Caught up with some people I hadn't seen in a while and stuff, plus met a few new people. It was a good time, just wanted to provide a reasonable expectation.

 

It's August 17th, so we got a ways like you said. I'll might wander up there again. Might bring the bikes this time so I can get some MTB laps in while I am there.

 

I'll think about it. I guess it can't hurt to give it a try one time, but $60 for registration fee?.....that's alittle pricey.

 

You get some swag along with it. I think last year it was some cruiser gear stickers, and a UTOR patch and stuff in addition to a spot on the trail run.

They had some pretty sweet prizes and stuff at the auction too, so that money does get used wisely!

 

Yo @Gunshot-6A...you need hurry up with that backyard with a fire pit. We're trying to have a meet up.

 

Does it cost money to just go to the expo or does it just cost money for the trail run? @Gunshot-6A

 

Dude, you have no idea how much I am ready to be over and done with home buying for a while.

If all goes well, June 8 is move in day!

Home inspection is next week, and I'm not gonna sleep well until I get the findings back.

Last house was awesome right up until the inspection was a DISASTER. Meth use, black mold, electrical code violations out the ass.

 

Last year, it just cost money for the trail run / swag bag if I remember right.

 

The Expo is free to the public. The trail run is where the $60 comes in play.

 

Just like Virginia said. No fee unless you want to run the trail.

I assume it’s mostly about supporting the cause. I went for a couple hours last year. It was cool. There are vendors peddling their goods and some cool people.

 

I mostly want any freebie sticker decals.

 

Anyone know anything about kayaks my wife and I are looking at getting either 2 small ones or a tandem... any recommendations

 

I use the Lifetime ones. They are nothing special, They Float! I use them up at Causey, Bear Lake, Powell, Ogden & Weber Rivers, ect. They are great for slow or still water and are good for some river stuff. It all depends on what type of water you want to play in. Class 3 rapids and up you may want to look at more dedicated boats. Dagger brand comes to mind.

 

I am going to MOAB! Does anyone want to join me? Leaving the Ogden area very early 5 - 6 am Monday May 20th. Leaving Moab Coming home around 10 - 11am Wednesday may 22nd. I have to work that night at 17:30. I am just winging it because I feel like that is part of the adventure. I will be camping out of my truck, sleeping in my hammock, and using freecamsites.net to find spots. I plan on doing some off road trails (of course), Mtn biking, Hiking, and Easy Kayaking. If my brother does not go with me I will have an extra kayak and life jacket. I am easy going but I like to cram a lot of adventure into the day. I enjoy a good beer and conversation. Anyway, Bonneville Off-Road is have a race up in Vernal next weekend if anyone is interested in spectating. This is our short-ish couse event with the laps only being 18 miles and you can see most of the course from the pits which is open to public. there will be a morning and an afternoon race. I'll be headed up friday evening after work.
