Considering moving to an access cab, any regrets from you guys?

Cements in shade have a cool look about them.

 

Reason 1) Suicide Doors
Reason 2) Less people trashing my truck
Reason 3) Trail limos, Sedan with uncovered truck, etc... DCLB too long IMO and short bed makes no sense to me

hmm lets see, shitty cab space compared to a dc, a half midget door. I guess if you never need to store more than three items behind you at all times then its an ok configuration.

 

I had an access cab then went with the mega cab

 

They really look better with a cap.

 

If they only still made a regular cab.

 

well, you should have known better when you got one, did you test drive it? I moved across Canada recently and everything got fit inside the cab, so idk

 

I placed more emphasis on the bed length because I wanted a purpose built truck....just look at all the contractors in my area and I see access cabs because they need room for their equipment/gear...just my 2 cents...

 

Dude, I personally could never have a short bed. The short bed is almost like an open cargo area. Just last night I was helping my girlfriend move into a new apartment and my long bed was completely stacked with couches and chairs, etc. I don't need a full size, I mostly just tow motorcycles and go to home depot a lot- but I don't see the point of a "truck" with a 5 foot bed. Might as well get a 4runner and have that cargo space enclosed.

That said- consider DCLB. I barely have people around but the extra enclosed space is really nice man. There's a lot more utility than an access cab. If you're not offroading and are cool with a longer wheel base I think DCLB is the way to go, and probably has better resale.

 

IMO Access cab looks the best.

Honestly I will probably go with a double cab next time around. My kids will be bigger then and I really like the storage in the back of a double cab.

It will definitely be a trade off because it will probably be a DCSB because of the length of the DCLB is just too long IMO and I like having a shorter wheel base.

But the DCLB look sick lifted tho

I love my DCLB, I bought it for because it best suited my needs (wife/2 kiddos/2 dogs) and it looks damn sexy! Good luck OP, make a pros and cons list and go from there. Wait for the 2020's to come out and make your decision on the 19 v 20, in any case the 19 should be a little cheaper being a left over.

 

13" is huge on a truck of this size. Obviously it's not literally as long as a bus, but the dimensions of the Tacoma make the DCLB look ridiculously long.

No regrets really. Love my AC! I just have a feeling that one day I will have to trade in my AC for a DC when I have kids. But silly to buy a DC now just in case I have kids though. That would be a lame move. I have seen 2nd gen threads about fitting a baby seat in an AC though, so I think I can make it work. We'll see.

 

You ain't kidding hahha, I'll start . I have an AT but I totally wish I waited and bought the MT. But I fell in love with my truck and didn't want to wait for an MT to come in. MT all the way hahahah
