Ok, I know most of you are thinking, "how dumb is this guy"? But here's the deal, I want a 6 speed manual, and it's easier to find a double cab than the access cab with the sport pkg. Also, I like the dub cab look better. The thing is, I have owned 4 4x4's in the past and never used the 4x. Since I have a kind of ocd, I really don't want a feature I will never use (crazy, i know). Also, i figure by selling the t-case and other parts, I could make a few extra bucks. So, what would be involved in making a 4x4 a prerunner? Thanks.

You can't get the 6-speed without buying a 4x4... sucks, I had the same problem when I bought mine. I wanted both a Prerunner and a longbed... two strikes against a 6-speed. Granted, I didn't want to go to this extreme to get it... I just live with an auto now

    Current options:

    2011
    7182 - 4-DR 2WD Double Cab (L4) 4spd Automatic
    7186 - 4-DR 2WD Double Cab (L4) 4spd Automatic
    7188 - 4 Door 2WD Double Cab (V6) 5speed Automatic Pre-Runner
    7190 - 4 Door 2WD Double Cab Long Bed (V6) 5speed Automatic Pre-Runner L/B
    7593 - 4DR 4WD Double Cab (V6) 6speed Manual
    7594 - 4DR 4WD Double Cab (V6) 5speed Automatic
    7596 - 4DR 4WD Double Cab Long Bed (V6) 5speed Automatic

Sounds like he wants a 6-speed DC TRD sport prerunner. You'd lose so much money gutting it like that. Not to mention the big useless switch (or round hole that would remain) on your dash.

It's all good man not worried about that. It's ultimately left up to him, and we would have to get it all done at least to make it driveable in 1 weekend or something since my truck is my DD.

I agree with Jacob_Wood. Buy the 4x4, and give all your 4x goodies to him. Then you will regret not having it someday. If you just wanna 2x, then, well I won't say it.
