Considering moving to an access cab, any regrets from you guys?

This. I wanted a pretty rare truck, Inferno DCSB with an orange dash, with Premium and a 6-speed. Toyota's website will let you build the truck and will then steer you towards the nearest dealership and tell you they have the truck in stock. Awesome, right? The dealership then calls you and informs you they DON'T have the truck, but hey, they have this nice automatic blue one, blah blah blah. Rinse and repeat, and after like five dealerships calling and giving me that whole thing it got old, and I needed help.
I asked my dad who is friends with the sales manager at a dealership to make a call. She could find out where the truck actually was, and turns out it was 3.5 hours away in another state. Picked it up the next morning. The funniest part was getting a pissed-off text from one of the sales guys I test drove with. Sometimes you have to know somebody.

 

At the time I wanted a long bed more than a dc, but that's changed over the years lol, plus it was kinda a deal too good to pass up

 

Sure IF you want to pay full retail plus a destination charge. It's not a matter of patience. Most of us would rather buy from a dealer that already has the truck on the lot. You have zero leverage to bargain if you order the truck directly from Toyota.

 

I gave up 13" of bed space for more dry secure storage and the ability to haul a passenger comfortably.
A 5-foot bed can still pretty much do the same as a LB.

 

love my access cab. only issue for me is loading and unloading next to cars becaus u open both doors and youre stuck. cant load groceries

 

I moved from a regular cab S15 to the Access cab mostly to secure gear a bit better. While I have a 5 lug most of you sneer at, I also wish it had the utility pac with no rear seats and rubber floor mats.

If I want to haul people, I use another vehicle.

I've left it alone because occasionally a grand or two will want to ride in back for short distances. Maybe someday I'll swap interiors with someone.

Went from an AC to a DCLB. No regrets but access cab has it's own appeal. The vehicle feels more...intimate? if that makes sense. It feels younger. DCLB is sweet but turning radius/parking can be a bit annoying.

One thing is for sure; you definitely want the 6ft bed.

 

station wagons are better than sports cars. I'm sure of it.

Yet another reason special ordering one is a goofy decision. Have never in my life special ordered a car for full list price just to wait in the age of Google.

I don't particularly like enduring more than one passenger at a time, and I've patted myself on the back many times after pointing to my AC CB jump seats and explaining to a potential passenger "you just won't fit back there, better jump in with so and so."

As to the bed argument, you can work out of just about anything. (my sister has remodeled three DC homes out of the back and roof of an Xterra) With the same breath, and while some of the DB CB guys don't want to swallow it, I'll say that extra foot of bed is huge if you're using your truck for hauling more than kids and groceries.

For me, AC CB is the clear winner, and I've been driving one in one form or another for a long time now.

 

Yep, the trucks design is for the AC and DCLB. That short bed doesn't look right, glad someone else has noticed that.

Which part of my statement do you disagree with?

 

Some people must use it for more than guns and archery gear.

 

Some of us disagree and think the DCSB looks ridiculous with that tiny bed.
