So I am trying to decide the next mod for the rig and I’m debating a new leaf pack or airbags. I am leaning toward airbags with Daystar Cradles due to the fact that it would give me the most flexibility with varying load weight. I do want to still have the off-road flexibility though for the occasional wheeling excursion. Do any of y’all have real world experience and advice? I would say I haul trailers and bed loads way more than off-road. I’ve read a few of the threads on TW but I’m still stuck. Any help is appreciated.

A little something every chance we get.
Don't hide - all for it, and will meet anyone from SATX that wants to do it. For me, this would be my SATX C&C, get me happy about meeting some Houston and Beach folks.

For me it's a trip, but convincing the wife (Margaritas help, as well as meeting up with SATX folks she knows), this is a better trip for us than the SPID run.

Well I was at your spot also as I use my truck for hauling and pulling a heavy trailer. I finally just ordered HD Dakar’s as I did not want to deal with bags.

Hahahahaha. Okay. I had a 2.5 ton load of gravel on my trailer a couple of weeks ago and while I had the power to pull it no problem, it looked like I was destroying the rear suspension. Kinda sad.

I talked with several guys running the bags. They are dependable but the leafs want let you down.

I run the HD Dakar springs. Without a load it rides like a truck. Stiff and higher in the rear. I personally think the stock springs are too soft for anything more than 300 pounds in the bed let alone pulling a trailer. The bags are great if you’re staying on the road with a load but they limit your articulation on rocks and could be damaged by flexing your axle out. An additional leaf or two and a better overload spring would probably be a better bet than a full pack if you’re in to the Cadillac ride with off-road capability.

I really haven't hauled anything since the "lift", but previous experience was that is you could get a distributed load, stock was fine and dandy. If they put it all in the back, comfy but lifty on the front.

That is pretty badass. Chad had said something about this to me at Whataburger when we were leaving but I was a little out of it and forgot about it pretty excited to get it here and put it up!
