You need to actually go out and measure your angles. You don't solve driveline vibrations by blindly throwing parts at things.

In short, you want your axle nose to be just barely nose-down from parallel with your transmission output (like -0.3 degrees from exactly parallel) and your driveshaft halves need to be almost, but not perfectly, straight with respect to each other.

I just put Dakars on my truck and found that they were arched perfectly to get the axle angle correct, and all I had to do was shim the carrier bearing down to get the driveshaft stubs close to being in line.

Harbor Freight sells a digital angle-finder doohickey for like $40! I'd recommend using a good metal ruler or something and checking your nose angle using the u-joint bolts as a flat surface.

For reference, you want a slight nose-down on the axle nose because it will want to rotate upwards under power, so if you put it slightly nose down it should pretty much line up once you apply the fun pedal.

The driveshaft stubs need to be ever-so-slightly off from each other because otherwise the u-joints won't keep themselves lubricated. less than a degree is the target.

Hey buddy I did the same thing but I experiencing deceleration shudder at 25-15 mph. Here is my measurements.

    TC 2.8
    1st shaft 7.2
    2nd shaft 7.5
    Pinion 3.0

    TC - Pinion = 0.2
    2nd joint near cb= 0.3

    1st joint - 4.4
    2nd joint - 0.3
    3rd joint - 4.5

If it only happens when slowing down could possibly be the brakes. You don't have an vibes while accelerating or highway speeds?

What size carrier bearing drop did you use to get those angles?

@lpfe42 how many miles do you have on you're rig? Did you add a larger tire size when you added the leaf springs? Did you make sure the ubolts were torqued to spec?

@Vjtrey1 did you happen to measure the angles?

Sorry i didn't i was tired as f*** adjusting the angles. No matter how perfect your angles are if the diff axle is warping in various speed it will shrud or vib so what happen is when you accelerate the rear diff goes up and when slowing down it goes down. In my case my rear diff angle is pointing down due to lift but not too much. So when I am slowing down to 30mph it shudder. I fixed it by installing axel shims which is 3 degree pointed side facing front compensate with the axle warp.

Happy to hear you’ve reached a vibration free setup.

My best combo I’ve discovered so far is a 4* degree shim and a 1/2 inch carrier bearing drop. Only take off shudder 5-10 mph, a lot less violent shudder than at 3* shim. No deceleration vibration, which it had as stock from day one so that’s an improvement.

I’m pretty much defeated. I will just stick with the take off shudder. It seems to me the center working angle needs to be close to zero as possible. I could drop the carrier bearing more but that would bring the TC working angle well over 5* and that itself will introduce new vibrations.

Try to remove the cb drop and see unless you tried it already.

Tried that. It made it worse. The 4* and CB drop has the least shudder from the many combos I tried.

Did you face the shims the correct way? had a friend complain about the same issue, turned out he had the skinnier side facing the rear..
