At least that’s an easy fix and the only damage done is to your ego!

I just cleaned and repacked a junkyard rear shaft and was surprised at how well it held air. I could have used it as a pogo stick. I had to pull the zerk out to compress/bleed it.

Interestingly enough, Dana driveshafts are manufactured about 15 minutes from my house in podump TN. I’ve had multiple people who work there tell me that Toyota’s quality control people are way more peculiar than other manufacturers.

I do quite a bit of work with Toyota and Aisin suppliers (Federal Mogul, ITW, Nagakura, Rightway, etc) and they say Toyota is very particular too. Really expensive when we tip a skid of product over and have to pay for the parts to be inspected/cleaned, and then for a new shipment to be air freighted to the line while the original shipment is being cleaned.

If only they applied the same QC to their frame suppliers and how they coat the frame.

We used to love it when people like you guys fucked up freight shipments, we made lots of $$$$ off those air freight charters.

Glad that's all it was though, I would have been super annoyed if I had to do a driveshaft retube twice for one project.

New daily. 2004 4wd SR5 with 153k on the 4.0L. Drives beautifully. Cosmetically dinged up just enough to get the price right where I wanted it. Pretty pumped about it! Fixing to drag the Jetta back to TN on a dolly.

That's pretty damn funny. I would have done that same thing, I'm sure.

    :infantry:Too true though.

This. Don't do it! I'm in the same boat.

Man, I’m enjoying this thing! Fixed the brake light and the map lights, having it professionally cleaned tomorrow, ordered some weatherstripping for the rear window.

And since you’re all prodding me about it... here’s the plans for the runner. I’m NOT going to build it. When the tires wear out I’ll probably replace them with some mild 32” all terrains. Probably throw some 5100s in the front to level it a tad. Keeping my eyes open for a good deal on a set of wheels. These are beat up bad. I really like the 1st gen sequoia wheels. Other than that, I’m going to drive it.

Motivation to finish the truck has plummeted. Need to suck it up and do it considering I’m one driveshaft and one seat away from being done. That’s what? 12 bolts. Haha.
