@BartMaster1234 what switch did you use for your kill switch?

Also anyone know whether it's a big deal to splice a larger gauge wire between two original smaller gauge wires? Gotta buy some and I don't want to buy a bunch of different sizes for a small project. It would only be one or two sizes bigger and the range is 20-14 gauge.

 

Splicing bigger into smaller is ok. But dont splice a small wire into a big one

 

I guess I'm working with 12, 14, and 16. Thought a roll of 12 and 14 would work.

 

I have done that but the voltage/amperage didn't change.

 

If its a 14 guage you can use 12 just not 16

 

Yeah I'd use 14 on 16 and 14 on 14 and 12 on 12

 

Smaller wires cant handle amperage. Some things can get away with it.


But if it’s something that handles a load then dont do it. Because the smaller wire can get hot and melt

 

Where can I buy it in small quantities?

 

I did to fix a break. So no worries on overloading

12 volts aint gonna be choosy, 20 ga or even that cat5 spaghetti type stuff handles it just fine. We run 120 volts through 16 ga at school. I use 18 on most of my trucks electrical stuff that Ive added.

 

lol I want to buy a small quantity so HD ain't helping my case. That's why I asked.

This would probably work, but I'm not sure if the quality is going to be an issue or not - I've put enough time and effort into my truck I figure cheaping out on the wire would possibly make a regrettable situation happen eventually.
