I wouldnt use tiny wire to run a fuel pump, but sticking to 14-18 ga on most any vehicle accessory shouldnt give any issues imo.

McMaster Carr, but $30 for 2 25ft rolls of 12 / 14 gauge ain't much better than buying the big rolls at home depot

the fuel pump power is 12 gauge just since I'm messing with it right now.

 

Are you redoing all the wires in your truck?

 

Repairing cut wiring harness under the cab. 11 wires, 1x12 gauge for the fuel pump power, the others are all 14 or 16 - only need 5-6 inches of each for giving me some extra length to work with when I mess with wiring / modding the bed etc.

I just used a heavy duty 30/40 Amp racing toggle switch with a cover so I don’t accidentally hit it.

 

Any auto parts store. Make sure you get stranded pure copper, I recommend at least 14 gauge.

 

Fry’s is a joke nowadays. They’re turning into RadioShack, focusing on consumer goods instead of electronic components and hobby equipment.

 

Yeah they actually do have automotive wire, just don't make my mistake and buy the machine wire which is way too rigid to work with.

Shit is expensive too. I paid $50 for a 100 foot roll of machine wire.

The stuff on Amazon is always Copper Clad Aluminum, which is just garbage. I manufacture all my wiring harnesses with 100% stranded Copper GXL automotive wire rated for gas and oil immersion from Waytekwire.com

 

Fry's is too far unless I really can only find something there, good call though, forgot about that. Walmart has only 16 gauge in stock - who'd have thought it's so hard to buy this stuff haha!
