I'm interested in what he has to say so perhaps not speak for everyone?

Neither of us are mods so let the mods handle it, report it and just ignore him if it bothers you. If I am going to pony up $6K to $8K for a FI system for my truck, you can be darn sure I am interested in the overall customer satisfaction rate of the company I am dealing with, regardless of product.

That being said I would not let one squabble between customer and vendor change my plans, it happens all the time in the 3rd party auto-mod world. I still very much look forward to seeing Matt dial this FI option in.

Sadly the few unsatisfied people make a much bigger noise than those who are satisfied. As with any business

I think what's going on here is the same problem companies have with investors. To my knowledge, no one here is investing in ovtune but they are following the development of a product in much the same way. With no timeline and no real insight into the status between now and the release, these "investors" are loosing confidence in ovtune.

Timelines are difficult if not impossible to know but maybe a more granular list of milestones would be a better fit.

Since I also work in the high-tech industry, I can empathize with OVTune not knowing exactly when their new product will be ready to sell to the general public. They are reliant on others and can only control what is within their company’s capabilities. I would rather wait longer than have them rush through the final steps of testing and tuning in particular in order for their product to meet our performance expectations while maintaining OEM reliability. That is a pretty tall order to fulfil.

That would be pretty cool if companies shared high level updates and high level lists of things still to come. A timeline would be difficult and maybe not kosher to share but at least if potential customers saw a list 20 items long they would know, “hey this isn’t happening for at least another year.”

Regardless, I’m 90% in on this turbo option as I think power and a transmission fix (V1.5) is exactly what this truck needs to be the mini-Raptor I so badly want. I also love that OVTune is focusing on OEM-like reliability before power.

But they do. It's called a shareholder meeting. It is required but it is presented to convince shareholders to not run away.

Like I said in my original post, milestones with be easier than an exact timeline and help keep the critics from complaining. The rest of us would get to share in the excitement at each stage.

Thanks for all of your input but Matt is all over this project (both from the technical and marketing point of view) and lots of the TW forum members have been well informed and updated throughout the last year or so. All aside, you are not the only TW member with mechanical knowledge and many members have been patiently waiting for Matt to conduct this project at his own pace in order to provide a reliable turbo kit. If he needed your help or input I'm sure he would ask but many of us have lots of confidence in his mechanical expertise, especially from the tuning side of things. He doesn't need some country bumpkin back yard mechanic critiquing his every step.

Apples and oranges. Customers are not shareholders and each want different types of info. Plus, not all companies are public or even have 3rd party investors, so either there is no public info or no shareholder info at all.

I’m talking about more of a marketing-R&D hybrid. It has to be high level to protect IP and buy a buffer for unexpected hurdles, but if you can’t do this, don’t announce the product. Look at what market leaders do, they may tease the item a couple months before its released but by that time it’s complete and they have product on the water.
