I have in my younger days bent a rod by sucking up some water.

If you did bend a rod, a compression test will show this.
I speculate the smoke was water vapour, from the few drops of water left in the intake and filter.

If you drew in a large amount ( 20 cc or more) it's going to bend a rod or crank.

My 1st suggestion is a cylinder balance test.
I apologize, I'm not up on the new Toyota ECU capabilities. If might have that ability, or you may have to use a scanner.
If these are not options, time for a compression test.

Next most logical item is small amounts of water making its way into the combustion chamber and cool temps making the vapour more prominent.

I have the smooth one. It’s been one great little subtle piece great as a temp workbench or cooking platform.

Actually yes I used to sit on the tailgate an it would bow some not now

 

If you can swing it I’d get it it’s really handy when you need it.
