The original Dunlops are still on my truck as well. Clearly these are mall rated at best. But I have to say. Did a highway run with a coworker yesterday, talking shop. Windows up and AC low, and damn, the truck runs quiet. That will be a sacrifice. I'm determined to find the sweet spot, most aggressive AT that runs quietest at highway speeds. Leaning Cooper Disco AT/3 or Michelin LTX....but the Michelin hardly qualifies as an AT. Would be cool if a single entity had a rating on a 1-10 scale. If Mudders are a 10 and the radials off your old Escort are a 1 and they give them a 6 - 7 - 8 etc. You read reviews here where guys say a given tire is quiet, but relative to what? It's a crap shoot. Sorry for the rant!

All this to say, the Dunlops with less than 10k on 'em should be fine for the summer unless you're heading straight to the trail.

those Dunflops will run to 70k miles, they don't do anything exceptionally well but have long service life and will get the job done IMO. when auto manufactorers put tires on they look at price, economy(mpgs)weight, and multi dimensional usage. majority of folks use their trucks as daily drivers with a utility aspect, not as a full time offroader or commercial work truck.

Not sure where the op is located but I think the Dunlop’s biggest weakness was snow - which led to the “abs on this truck is dangerous” and “how to disable your abs” threads. Once I got the Michelin’s on my truck I stopped needing to turn off my abs in snow.

I have a like new set of Kumho Crugen HT51’s that we’re on my 04 Tacoma when I bought it I was really surprised how quiet and smooth they rode, I switched to KO2’s after a few hundred miles mainly for the look and I do a lot of gravel and rocky roads getting to mountain biking trails.

Then you’re probably not too worried about snow . I’m tired of snow and currently looking at houses in Chapel Hill.

We usually only get one or two snow falls a year and they don’t last long. Good luck on your house hunt.

Agreed. Not trashing the tires. My truck was bought new by a woman in her 60's to get her safely back n forth to Home Depot on Saturdays. She avg less than 5200 miles a year on rural Indiana highways. The Dunlops were a fine tire for that. Now, they only have 29K on them but they're 6 years old and showing some bulges and I DO want to have broader capability range.

I decided to pass it was a great truck at a good price but I was afraid I would not be happy with the black paint long term. I have been considering all cab configurations but what I really want is a plane Jane regular cab 4x4 with a 5 speed. I found one in PA with low miles but the frame had some rust that concerns me. I posted pictures in another string last week.

I have MGM now and a nautical blue 4Runner. I like the mgm I hate taking care of the blue it’s tough like most metallics to take care of. I prefer white and silver. Easy to maintain
