Looking for some feedback from anyone who has installed an OEM TRD Pro Grille part PT228-35170.

Purchased from Amazon. I noticed some scratches which are indicative of a previous install attempt. No real worries there. However, I noticed what looks like some broken or snapped off pieces? They are pretty rough or jagged to the touch. Are these normal?IMG_20190511_230637.jpg IMG_20190511_230838.jpg IMG_20190511_230842.jpg IMG_20190511_230907.jpg IMG_20190511_230912.jpg IMG_20190511_230915.jpg MVIMG_20190511_230920.jpg

Looks like it might have been previously installed, I would contact whoever you bought it through and send them pictures

Looks like it could’ve been played with for sure. At that price I’d definitely question it, worth shooting an email to the seller. If they don’t do anything bring it up to Amazon, the joy of amazon is I’ve always had a good experience in them resolving any issue I’ve had. I paid $60 for mine and it looks just like that, minus the scuffs so I was happy:)

What’s the box look like? Yea those are the right markings and for sure looks like it was returned. A broken tab or two won’t make the grille fall out if that’s what you’re worried about

That’s quite a bit of damage. Looks like something that was pulled out of a salvaged Pro.

I’d sent it back...on their dime.

My .02, return it on their dime and just get knock off. You’ll save some for other mods and have the same product:cool:

True. If the OE looks like that, the knockoff will knock your socks off!

I got a knockoff; looked much better than that. But I didn’t get the pretty cardboard box.

Yea that’s the right box and I would say that’s a second hand OEM. I would be returning that

Yep... This is the route I'll be taking. Amazon contacted the seller for further information. If it's truly OEM and lightly damaged I'm okay with it so long as the installation isn't compromised and they refund me a bit. Otherwise I'll return and buy another from someone else.

Wish I would’ve seen this thread Thursday. I bought the same OEM TRD Pro grille from Amazon then, and it’s already shipped. If mine shows up like that, you can bet your sweet bippy it’s going back for a refund!

I gave them a chance to replace. They did but the second was the same crap. Got refunded and bought from Toyota Nashua for $369 plus shipping. At least I know it will be a real OEM non-used grille. The third party Amazon store I bought from was BAM Wholesale Parts. I did some investigating into them after my ordeal and they have several complaints about receiving defective parts. They're not a dealer so I'm guessing they buy returned items or something and sell them for 'new' pricing.

I was just digging into this myself. BAM Wholesale is the parts arm of Brunswick Auto Mart near Cleveland OH, and is also the place where my grill is coming from. They only had a few left when I ordered, so I wouldn’t be surprised if I got one of these messed up grills. If I do, I’m going straight to Amazon. A seller that repeatedly sells shit doesn’t deserve a chance to “make it right”.

I ordered the grille garnish plate from Manhattan Beach Toyota on eBay. Let’s hope it arrive OK.

Yes, BAM Wholesale Parts is a Toyota dealer.

BAM = Brunswick Auto Mart is a large auto dealer group, including Toyota.

I have bought from the in the past: they were fine. BAM normally shows the lowest price when you google an OE part number, and they usually have the parts in stock.

Their Jeep, Dodge and Fiat Parts Depts appear to have it more together than their Toyota parts dept., though. Never had issues ordering Mopar parts from them. BAM offers free shipping on orders over $75, but didn’t get it to work on Toyota parts; tried calling but no one ever picked up.

Looks OE. How much did you pay for it? If you can have them refund you 50% of the price I'd keep it, IMO.
