The front of my intake has an electrical male unused plug. Something surely is supposed to be plugged in there. Can't find any wires with a female matching port hanging anywhere. Any ideas what is supposed to be plugged in there?

Worthless you say? And you have a Tacoma of the same year and you can't look at your intake manifold?

If it is on the left side by the air filter my 2002 has one that has been there forever. I've taken everything on the left side apart and haven't found a plug that may go with it so I just left it alone. There are no CEL codes related to it it seems like so there's that.

If that plug goes somewhere you would know right away I would hope. If that cable goes to an injector there would be a misfire code right away. If it goes to like the MAF sensor there would be an Idle difference. If it went to like the EVAP system the system would throw a code within 60 miles, At least for mine. Now that I recall there are two extra plugs on my 2002 that are not connected to anything but there are no codes or noticeable performance differences.

I have a 95 3RZ-FE and I looked this morning. I couldn't see anything on the front (towards radiator) that was not plugged into something. Can you show us where it is located? Someone on here will know.

Thank you all. Yes, mine looks different. My diagnostic port is mounted towards the drivers fender behind the battery. The soft plug looking thing at the front of the manifold has electrical prongs protruding from it and without any other vacuum or threaded outlets. It is not a diagnostic port mount. The intake manifold in the photo shows a temp switch or some thing to the left of the center. I know mine is a 95. Maybe it was an earlier or later in the year model or someone modified it. I will get a photo posted since mine appears different. I have a hot start problem so this could be why if that is a temp sensor.
Again thanks again for the responses.

this is why you post pics of what you are talking about, so we CAN SEE what you are talking about, not what you think we can come up with

and don't get mad at someone who tries to help by asking for pics :)

also, if you are a "95" and not 95.5/96 then you have the older generation of truck, not a Tacoma

    pics plz! :D

Yes, you are right it is actually a 95.5. That is what Toyota calls it. Title and stickers on the door jam do not. I have only owned it for 24 years. It might not be a Tacoma. It might be a 3.4 V6 too. I have a Chilton manual coming. Good by all. Sorry to have wasted your time.
