PCV valve is what I would suggest checking/clearing or replacing if totally defective.

Do you have emissions testing in your state? If you’re burning that much oil it would show up for sure. Even if it’s not mandatory that may not be a bad idea to find a shop with an emissions analyzer.

    No emissions test here.
    I'll check the PCV.
And no the check engine light is not on
Thank you all for your suggestions

This doesn’t make sense. You say for the last 30000 miles you have been using 2 plus quarts of oil every 1000 miles. That’s 60 quarts of oil. If it was leaking anywhere the underside of your truck would be covered in oil, you’d have oil everywhere. If you are burning 2 quarts or so of oil every thousand miles you would have quite noticeable smoke coming out your tailpipe. If the underside ain’t covered in oil then you are burning it. Leaking or burning it, those are the only two options. Sumtin jus ain’t right. Makes no sense. Let us know when someone figures it out.

Change the PVC valve and see what happens. Running a compression test won't necessarily show oil consumption if all cylinders are the same. Take it to a quality shop and have them doing a "cylinder leak down test". This will tell you where the oil is going, (valve seals or piston rings and in what cylinders)

If you are changing your AIR FILTER every 2500 miles then we need to know more about this.

l think we all understood what you said initially. You were clear about what was going on. .
We're all just racking our brains trying to come up with what's happening with your oil.

I know it's a completely different vehicle and motor but my Prius had the exact same problem (very common for priuses to start burning oil around 100k). No symptoms, just burned a quart every 1k mile. Hopefully you get it figured out op

The pcv is meant to take crankcase fumes and re-burn them instead of venting to the atmosphere like they used to. If he has a huge amount of blow-by, that would clog up the pcv and intake system to the point he would have symptoms I would think. Another very remote possibility is leaking injectors with gas diluting the oil to the point it burns readily as the oil rings can't control it. Without compression data otherwise it may be that this engine is worn out from hard use. It may be that he has an unlikely but possible manufacturing defect in the rings ,pistons , cylinder wall finish or something. I wonder if the power train warranty covers this?

I’ve read it’s common with some high mileage Priuses but not sure how common.. as my Prius w/ 165k miles doesn’t burn a drop of oil at 7500 OCI.

Here's an easy test you can do today. Get a buddy to follow you in another car.

From a stop or low mph, punch it and run it through first and second. If you get smoke on acceleration, you have one or more bad rings.

From a steady 50 or 60 mph, manually shift down to 3rd gear so that the rpm's rise and slow the truck down. If you get smoke on deceleration, you have one or more bad valve guides.

Well there is part of the problem. You take 5.5 quarts not 5 quarts and you are under filling the oil right from the get go by half a quart.

The OP says he's losing 2 - 2 1/2 quarts in 1,000 miles of driving. That's a lot of oil!
I'm not loosing any at all between oil changes.
l think that there is a problem somewhere.
